Absolute Purity 绝对纯洁 - Absolute Purity 绝对纯洁/Ten Minutes
Shanghai post punk outfit Absolute Purity have been prepping for the release of their debut LP We Fought Over The Moon with the release of two new music videos - the first is for the band's most well known single ‘Absolute Purity’ which gets a full orchestral upgrade here. The video directed by Chen Zhou juxtaposes the relationships between humans in both nature and sprawling metropolises examining the paradox of love - a primal dance between individuals no matter the setting. Beautifully shot and rendered.
Meanwhile this paradox takes a different form in the video for Ten Minutes, directed by Liu Yi and focusing on how friends and our invisible emotions and actions constantly guide each other. Following a fallen boxer who seeks out revenge in the ring - the music video’s true story are that of angels/devils on his shoulder (referred to by the director as elves) that accompany ‘the fool’ on the road, slyly guiding his path up till the end. Keep your ears perked for the band's debut any day now.
GOINDOWN - True Love Dystopia 真爱荒诞剧
The absurdity of true love - or simply true love and absurdity - two sides of the same coin. Chengdu ska punks GOINDOWN, fresh off their self-titled debut return with their latest music video for ‘True Love Dystopia’. Full of the band’s ‘foot-tapping punk music that’s earnest, lyrically rich and a hell of a good time - yet embedded with a downtrodden grit and weary heart that makes its message that much more potent’ the video follows a girl post-break-up who wanders through the city of Chengdu adrift, constantly running into reminders of her predicament - before eventually deciding to turn back and run straight in what she knows will be trouble.
