Qingdao’s Orange Ocean, whose 2019 single ‘Summer Cozy Rock’ skyrocketed the Britpop infused band to success has been working their work toward their sophomore release, dropping their new EP Excel this past winter. With more dream pop and city pop elements making their way into their sound, the single ‘Song’ is old school Britpop with the band’s signature breezy amorous edge. The accompanying music video cuts to the chase too - shooting the band in stark black and white against concrete slabs in some long-forgotten construction site.

Flip House - Canyons

Shanghai favorites Flip House gets wistful in its latest single ‘Canyons’ - a nostalgic wide-eyed emo pop jam that pulls at them ol’ here strings whilst wrangling a sound built on earnest conviction and jangly charm. The music video is a treasure trove of old grainy home video footage across multiple eras - capturing the innocence and wonder that comes with childhood. Simple yet effective, it does make one yearn for simpler times.
