上周末再次逃离上海，来到义乌的隔壁酒吧——这座长期被遗弃在山边的老道观，摇身一变成为一座 livehouse 以及听众的天堂。除了想沉浸在隔壁酒吧的良好氛围中放松一下之外，我还想来看看过去两年里一直在制造“噪声”的乐队——来自成都的返校日——成长得如何。 

指甲缝中布满沙砾，一种被压抑着、你不会想去激怒的年轻暴动…这样的垃圾摇滚让人完全讨厌不起来。这支年轻的乐队像是 90 年代西雅图之声的闪耀回归，同时却有着温柔的流行音乐内核，给人出其不备的一击。在义乌演绎他们的首张专辑《庆祝一场溃烂》时，乐队放弃所有拘束，呈现了极有张力的一个多小时。这个三人组或许才刚刚从大学毕业，但他们拥有超强的冲击力——我认为他们随着年龄的增长只会变得更好。演立刻征服了我——我迫不及待地想再见到他们。也等不及想要在下周末再度逃离，享受难得的休整。

Escaped the soul-crushing confines of Shanghai once again last weekend and headed back to Yiwu - home to perhaps China’s most badass and comforting livehouse Gebi. An old Daoist Temple long abandoned on the edge of a mountain and turned into a bar and music venue, Gebi is pretty much a nomad’s paradise - a place that feels cut off from the rest of the city that sports some seriously good vibes (and plenty of hidden tuck-away swimming spots and dam-level makeshift bars). 

Besides just being in Gebi Bar’s presence, I came to Yiwu to check out a band that's been making lots of noise over the past two years - Chengdu’s Riot in School. 

Grungy alt rock with grit under its fingernails and a pent-up youthful ferocity that’s impossible to annoy, the band is a glorious riotous throwback to 90s era Seattle yet with a soft pop center that almost blindsides you. Showcasing their debut Ceremony for Corruption, the band let in rip for well over an hour - with bleeding distortions acting as song transitions, a wall of fuzz coating its melodic drive, and a trio of dead bouquets lining their mics and amps. The trio may be fresh out of university but they pack a punch - and will be a band I can only imagine will get better with age.

Till then - a toast to our collective adolescent meltdown.
