bBb bBb 哔哔哔 哔哔哔 - Why Be Free 何苦逍遥

bBb bBb is sonic matrimony of Lao Dan and Li Daiguo - two of the avant-garde scene’s most renowned characters - the former known for his sway over the alto sax and flute, the latter for his otherworldly hold over stringed instruments (amongst many others). The pair teamed up in the nomadic lands of Dali in 2021, charting course after course into new territory - ‘heterogeneous and pure’ - bringing in new elements - from analog synthesizers to tabla drums - whenever they saw (heard) fit. A fruitful, engaging swirl of Chinese folk, jazz, world music, and experimental music.

SINTAS 石人- SINTAS 石人

Kazakh folk rock band from Urumqi, Xinjiang, SINTAS (taking its name from the totem of ancient Eurasian grassland nomads (centered around sun and fertility) was founded in 2014 by long-standing musicians, both influenced by legendary acts like Roksonaki and by contemporaries like Mamer (who acts as producer on the album). Combining rock arrangements and Kazakh national instruments - such as dombra, kubuz, sibuzie, and shankubuzi (mouth strings), the band touches on everything from originals, interpretations of classic poems, and the traditional instrumental music of the Kazakh region. There’s a no frills rustic attitude to the music here, which can even dip toward Pink Floyd-influenced psych rock territory - giving the grassland music both the reverence it deserves and the channel to reinvent itself.

Li Daiguo 李带菓 - 吥哔呢未来音：奇幻童年

Li Daiguo, one of the leading representatives of Chinese experimental music returns to the his personal orchestra of ‘future sound’ (吥哔呢未来音) and with it his second volume of avant-garde children’s music. A playful, at times whimsical blend of traditional Chinese music with modern world music as Daiguo’s vast knowledge and implementation of musical techniques from around the world feed their way into his sound. African harp, guzheng, cello, erhu, Moroccan flute, tabla - that’s just an inkling of the arsenal Daiguo has at his disposal. Truly an audial feast for the ears - the artist creates a fantastical world of music that has one foot in the past and one foot in the future - one rooted in the boundless imagination of a child yet equipped with the tools of a musical savant. 

李带菓，中国实验音乐的主要代表之一，回归到他的“未来之声”个人乐团（吥哔呢未来音），并推出了前卫儿童音乐的第二辑。带菓将他世界音乐技巧的丰富的知识和准确应用融入了他的声音中，达到一种中国传统音乐与现代世界音乐的有趣、富有创造力的融合。非洲的竖琴、古筝、大提琴、二胡、摩洛哥的长笛、塔布拉——只是带菓乐器库的一个缩影。这真的是一场听觉盛宴——艺术家创造了一个音乐幻想世界：一只脚站在过去，一只手伸往未来的，植根于孩童的无限想象力，却同时具备音乐大师的手艺。
