The Unsung Heroes of Dulwich College Suzhou 苏州德威的幕后英雄

On Thursday afternoon of this week, Dulwich College Suzhou conducted a successful drill in preparation for school opening. All of the details were rehearsed, and each operational department was involved. We would like to say a big thank you to those staff working in a support function who may not have captured your attention before. The photos below show how attentively they work towards the school opening. They have been working extremely hard throughout this whole period.

When the school bus enters the campus, the drivers will stop in turn and drop the children off every 5 minutes. We will ensure that no more than 30 children enter the school for temperature measurement at one time.

We see our guards at the doors & entrances every day, and now they will carry out additional responsibilities to ensure safety on our campus.

To ensure all students and staff are well and healthy, temperature checks on everyone will be conducted upon arrival at the College. One of our staff is required by regulation to wear a full body, personal protective suit. In light of this requirement, Mike O’Connor, our Headmaster comments that “some students unprepared for this sight may find it confronting. I ask all parents to talk with your children about the need for this action in order to prepare them. Please use the attached photo as a reference to guide this conversation.”  

The school nurses carry out a critical job to ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to. All signage and posters about health and safety you will see on campus are initiated by them. In the unlikely event where a child shows symptoms of sickness, the class teachers will liaise with the nurses in the first instance. The nurses will also take the student to the isolation area and take care of him/her there.

During lunch time, we practised the protocols such as keeping distances between people and alternating times for lunches. Our staff will be on hand to ensure hygiene procedures are adhered to.

Dulwich College Suzhou completed the drill successfully, and the efforts were observed and appreciated by the Suzhou Education Bureau officials. So that we are fully prepared for school opening, we have procured the appropriate technology and have stocked the necessary supplies on campus to meet the needs of our school community.

In particular, we have the “secret weapon”, which are our thermal scanners available on campus, helping us to check people’s temperatures much faster than other standard machines. Only few schools in Suzhou have this resource on their campuses.

During this challenging time, every single detail counts and teamwork is critical. Many things that we may not have noticed before now take on an extra level of importance.  All the work our support teams have done behind the scenes is crucial to our future school opening and we are incredibly grateful for their work and dedication.

苏州德威的幕后英雄

本周四下午，苏州德威进行了一次成功的开学演练。我们对开学将会涉及到的所有的细节都进行了演练，德威每个运营部门都参与其中。在此，我们要专门感谢德威的幕后工作人员。为了德威能够早日开学，他们一直在不懈努力。在此之前，大家可能都没有关注过他们的工作。但是现在，在疫情面前，更加显示出他们的工作的重要性和必要性。下面的图片所展示的内容，只是他们辛苦工作的一部分。

我们专注工作的校车司机。校车进入校园后，司机会按序、每5分钟让学生下一次车，每次进校不会超过30人，确保体温测试有序进行。

我们严肃帅气的安保人员。他们现在比以往承担了更多的工作，确保我们校园的安全。

穿着防护服的测温工作人员。为确保所有学生和教职员的身体健康，每个人进入学校都需要接受体温检查。德威会有身着全身防护装备的员工进行进校体温测试工作。对于这一点，我们的校长Mike O’Connor先生特别做出了提醒。他说:“一些学生初次面对这样的场景可能会感到不适应，或许会有点紧张，家长们需要向孩子提前解释一下这样做的必要性，让他们做好心理准备。可以给孩子看一看下面的图片。”

严阵以待的护士团队。学校的护士们现在任务尤其很重，因为她们需要确保健康和安全程序得到严格落实。校园里所有关于健康和安全的标识乃至海报都是他们的团队来开启的。如果有孩子表现出生病的症状（虽然我们认为几率很低），班主任会在第一时间联系护士。护士则会把学生带到隔离区，在那里照顾他/她。

辛勤工作的餐厅工作人员。在午餐时间，我们演练了特殊时期的就餐方式，比如确保人与人之间要有足够的距离，让学生们错开用餐时间。我们会有专人确保这些规定会得到贯彻。

苏州德威的开学演练非常成功，并受到了现场考察的苏州教育局官员的认可。为了确保顺利开学，我们购置了必要的技术设备，并在校内储备了必要的物资，以满足防疫需要。

尤其是德威安在校园的热成像体温仪，是我们的“秘密武器”。这种先进的设备可以确保我们每天非常快速的进行测温，不会导致学生排队等待很长时间。

在这段充满挑战的时间里，每一个细节都不容忽视，团队合作是关键。我们的支持团队在幕后所做的工作对我们未来的开学至关重要，我们非常感谢这些默默无闻的工作人员的无私奉献。在这里，让我们真诚的向他们道一声：辛苦了！
