“我，門”是一道亟待解构的文字谜题。

There is a quiet humor to life in how deeper meanings hide in plain sight. Take, for example, the title of this exhibition.

“我”，“施身自謂也”，强调的是主体自我意识的参与和互动。“门”，由“两扇窗”（門）简化而来，本身作为建筑客体的代表构成部分，同时是空间与空间之间的分隔与联结。通过一道“门”，我们得以从一个客体空间走向另一个客体空间，主体与客体之间发生互动，而主体与主体之间亦有了联结。“我，門”，一方面讲述的是主体（我）与客体（门与建筑）之间的故事；另一方面则以谐音意指“我们”，即通过展览所链接到的怀有相同关切的所有人，包括你、我和我们。

 “Through” is a preposition that refers to a motion in space and time, and a means that is approaching an end. “Our” is a pronoun that can include all, without having to be opposed to “them.” “Door” is a noun of a hundred meanings. It could be literal and point at a particular door. Or it could be metaphorical, as in a door into someone’s life, a door into the past as present, a door through which people across cultures and even lifetimes can stay together a little and chat, as the trees and the flowers and the world around them bloom into spring. Three words hold so much potential. Like stones overturned, language—once touched—transports us into infinite realms of possibilities. Given the chance, what would you discover?

“我，門”聚焦北大静园的建筑群落，呈现中英双语的跨学科文化展，同时设置线下和线上VR展厅。我们希望邀请每一位有兴趣探索静园前世今生的观众踏进这片深深庭院。

“Through Our Door” is an exhibition dedicated to those before us, those after us, and you, our audience. Onsite and online, in both Chinese and English, we invite you to enter Jingyuan, our Garden of Serenity.

就从现在开始，让展览失语，让“我们”发声。

So let us now let all explanation stop, and your exploration start.

“人文·我”将跟随着一位位曾经或正在与静园发生互动的人物的记忆，探寻静园所承载的人文情怀；

“Culture · Memories” discovers the people of Jingyuan, and their presence which remains in the air.

“历史·門”则将带领我们回溯朱门灰瓦所见证的静园建筑历史；

“History · Her/histories” analyzes Jingyuan as a site, and the events that its bricks and tiles have witnessed.

“艺术·我門”将在艺术所打开的想象空间内让人和建筑之间发生互动、对话，一起进行光影的游戏。

“Art · Conversations” is not about Jingyuan, but is it activated, as its architecture, nature, lights, shadows, and ourselves work in play.

在线下，我们准备了“永生花工作坊”和“植物拓印工作坊”。期待和你一起用干花和凝胶制作永生花标本，封印静园的春天；用“我，門”专用帆布袋以及静园庭院中的树叶创作属于自己的静园手提袋！

We have prepared Preserved Flower Cube Workshop and Plant Rubbing Workshop. 

We look forward to working with you to make preserved flower cubes with dried flowers and gels, and seal the spring of Jingyuan. You will also be able to make your own customized canvas handbag using the original materials you collect on-site yourself (for example, leaves you collect in the Jingyuan courtyard)!
