Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Journal: A “collective home letter” for overseas Zhongshanese and the only overseas Chinese journal titled by a state leader
《中山侨刊》创刊于1981年，国内统一连续出版物号为CN44-(Q)1006，现由中山市侨务局主管,中山市中山侨刊社主办，是全国唯一由国家领导人（国家名誉主席宋庆龄）题写刊名的侨刊，也是中山市对外发行量最大、发行范围最广且独具特色的中英双语双月期刊，曾获广东省侨刊乡讯评比一等奖、广东省首届优秀侨刊乡讯奖、广东省优秀期刊等荣誉。Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Journal, founded in 1981 and with a domestic serial number of CN44-(Q)1006, is a journal with unique characteristics run by the Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Journal Office under the supervision of Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau. It is the only overseas Chinese journal titled by a state leader (Honorary State President Soong Ching-ling), and the Chinese-English bimonthly with the largest and widest circulation in Zhongshan City. It once received such honors as the first prize in the Guangdong appraisal of overseas Chinese journals and correspondence, the First Guangdong Excellent Overseas Chinese Journal and Correspondence Award, and the Excellent Journal of Guangdong.
《中山侨刊》自创刊以来，始终坚持“以刊为桥、为侨办刊”，在各级领导的帮助指导下，在侨胞乡亲的关注支持下，积极发挥联络侨胞、为侨服务、记录侨情、说明侨史、传播乡情、宣传文化、推介城市、对外交流、促进友好等作用，全年发行量逾37000本，公开发行到5大洲60多个国家和港澳台地区的200多个侨团、友好组织以及各国驻穗使领馆，努力为广大华侨华人华裔、港澳台同胞、国际友好人士提供“精神食粮”，被社会各界称赞为沟通内外的“集体家书”。Since it was founded, Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Journal has served as a bridge between the hometown and overseas Zhongshanese and played an active role in contacting and serving overseas Zhongshanese under the direction of leaders at all levels and with the support of overseas Zhongshanese. That includes recording their dynamics and stories, communicating hometown dynamics and culture, recommending the city, conducting external exchanges, promoting friendship, etc. With an annual circulation of over 37,000, it is published publicly to over 60 countries and regions on five continents, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, including over 200 overseas Chinese groups, organizations and embassies and consulates in Guangzhou. It is dedicated to provide “spiritual food” to overseas Chinese, foreign citizen of Chinese origin, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan compatriots, as well as international friends. It is hailed as a “collective home letter” for Chinese at home and abroad.
