给孩子一屋子玩具和乐器的妈妈

As a mother, she filled her child’s room with toys and musical instruments

杨琳琳校长是“学霸”孩子的妈妈，她的孩子从小学开始接受国际化教育，在IBDP毕业后以IB总分42、托福100+、SAT1500+的优异成绩，获得英国伦敦帝国理工学院、伦敦大学学院、美国弗吉尼亚大学、加州大学多所分校、波士顿大学等众多世界名校的录取，最终她的小孩选择了前往美国公立常春藤弗吉尼亚大学（USNEWS排名前30，公立大学排名前3）就读本科，并年年取得全A的成绩、GPA4.0满分，并以GRE330+的好成绩被美国顶级商学院麦金尔太商学院的M.S in Commerce商业硕士项目录取(该项目在《经济学人》发布的全球管理硕士排名中位列第二)。

杨琳琳校长经常笑着说：“其实，会玩的孩子学习都不会差。我的孩子只有一半的时间在学习，另一半时间都在‘玩’！”

杨琳琳校长的家里至今还堆满了孩子成长时期玩过的满满几大箱乐高作品，各种电子游戏机，玩乐队的各种电音吉他、音箱，“玩”篮球时的大小篮球，“玩”模拟联合国时的小锤子与国家牌，“玩”美式辩论时的大小奖杯……

她从来不反对孩子发展自己课余的兴趣爱好，甚至试过跟孩子一起从广州“飞”到上海，只为了听一场孩子喜爱的乐队的演唱会。

“孩子在兴趣发展的过程中，能慢慢知道自己缺什么，从而主动弥补自己的不足发扬自己的特长，这就是学习的内驱力”。

Linlin’s son has been doing international education since primary school. After graduating from the IB program with a total IB score of 42, TOEFL score of 100+ and SAT score of 1500+, he received offers from Imperial College London, University College London, University of Virginia, University of California, Boston University and many other world-renowned universities. Eventually, he chose University of Virginia (ranked top 30 of all universities top 3 of public universities on the U.S. News), one of the public Ivy Schools in the US. As a straight-A student with GPA of 4.0 and GRE score of 330+, he was enrolled in M.S in Commerce (ranked the 2nd in the Global Master of Management published by the Economist) of Mclntire School of Commerce, a top American business school.

“Actually, the children who know how to play will know how to learn. My son spent only half his time studying and the other half ‘playing’!”, said Linlin, with a smile on her face.

At Linlin’s house, there is still plenty of her son’s “playing” stuff including several boxes of Lego works, various video game consoles, all kinds of band kits such as electric guitar and speaker, basketballs in all sizes, playing tools for Model United Nations such as the small gavel and cards of countries as well as different sizes of trophies obtained from American debates…

She has never been against her son developing any extra interests and hobbies. She even managed to fly from Guangzhou to Shanghai with her son just to go to a concert of her son’s favorite band.

“Children will figure out what they are missing while developing their interests, thereby taking an initiative to make up for their shortcomings and highlight their strengths and this is the internal drive of learning.”

作为一名老师，杨琳琳校长却从来不安排自己孩子的学习，她把时间管理与自主学习的权力交回给孩子，让孩子自主安排自己的学习和娱乐时间。但是，她会明确告诉孩子，他需要为自己的学习负责，并具有自我管理的意识。

“当孩子同时具备学习能力和自我管理意识，这两个要素就像为孩子插上了翅膀，会正向助力学习，让学习更加高效且有成就感”。

As a teacher, Linlin barely arranges her son’s schedule. She gives the right of managing time and study back to her son so that the son is able to manage his own time of learning and entertaining. However, she tells him clearly that he must be responsible for his own study with a sense of self-management.

“The ability to learn and the sense of self-management will help children to study more efficiently and gain a sense of achievement, just like a car with two engines”

杨琳琳校长是一位在校园耕耘了三十年的教育工作者与个性化教育的践行者，是广州市番禺区诺德安达学校的创校校长。

她曾组织过一项持续15年的乡村小学支教活动，每年秋季她都带领学生在贫困地区和大山的小学校支教一周，让梦想照亮大山里的孩子们的现实，这样的志愿者活动覆盖了中国26个省市自治区。

她是“古丝路新思维千里传骑活动“的组织者，2019年她的骑行里程达到1700多公里。她和她的学生们骑行在古丝绸之路从嘉峪关到乌鲁木齐的戈壁、草原与魔鬼城，也骑行在荷兰阿姆斯特丹到比利时、卢森堡、法国的世界文化遗产之路，还完成了宝岛台湾环岛骑行。

Linlin is an educator and practitioner of personalized education who has been working in the field of education for 30 years. She is also the founding principal of NAS Guangzhou.

She launched a “volunteer teaching program” in rural elementary schools that lasted for 15 years. Every autumn, she led students to the poor and mountainous areas, spending a week in teaching in primary schools there. They lightened the real life of children there by sharing dreams to them. Such voluntary activities covered 26 provinces and areas in China.

She is the organizer of the “Cycling the Silk Road Ancient Passway to the Modern World” event. In 2019, her mileage reached over 1,700 kilometers. She and her students rode on the ancient Silk Road from Jiayuguan to the Gobi, the grassland and devil city in Urumchi, and the World Cultural Heritage Road from Amsterdam to Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. They also finished cycling around Taiwan Island.

回忆这段“骑迹“，杨琳琳说：“我刚开始的时候连自行车都不会骑，硬着头皮学会后没想到还有这样的能量，因为我知道这样的坚持与挑战正是身教之力量”。正是凭着这种积极向上的态度，她带着孩子们不断超越自我，在骑行路上直面挑战收获成长与感动。

Recalling this "riding miracle", Linlin said, "I started without knowing how to ride a bicycle. I didn’t expect to have this kind of power until I learned it and I knew that the persistence in facing challenges was what I could teach to my students.” With this positive attitude, she led the children to constantly go beyond themselves and face the challenges on the road. After that, all of them become better and grateful.

杨校长把她的学生当成自己的孩子一样培养，她认为学校教育除了授予孩子们学术知识，更重要的是需要“看到”每位孩子的特点，帮助每一个孩子找到隐藏在他们体内的特殊使命和注定要做的那件事。

这些年来，她培育的学生遍布世界名校，包括美国常春藤盟校、英国的牛津剑桥、加拿大多伦多大学、澳大利亚墨尔本大学、香港大学等。更加难得的是，多年来杨琳琳一直和她的学生保持紧密的联系，应邀担任学生的证婚人、为学生的亲子教育出谋划策，这些都是她经常在做的事情。

杨校长通常以“杰出”(GREAT) 一词作为学生培育的标准，即培养他们成为拥有全球视野的公民(Global citizens)、富有责任感的领导者(Responsible leaders)、自觉的环境保护者(Environmental protectors)、学术有建树的成就者(Academic achievers)、以及才艺显著的交流者(Talent communicators)。同时，还要有真实、善良、行动、热情和担当的品质，能够传承深刻又富有生命力的中国传统文化和历史，成为语言精通、文化丰厚、思想通融、通晓规则、行动全球化的国际化人才。这也是广州市番禺区诺德安达学校的人才培养方向。

Linlin treats her students as her own children. She believes that in addition to teaching academic knowledge, school education needs to "see" the characteristics of each child and awaken the potential in every child, helping them to find their special mission.

Over the years, her students spread all over the world’s top universities, including Ivy League schools in the United States, University of Oxford and University of Cambridge in the UK, University of Toronto in Canada, University of Melbourne in Australia, University of Hong Kong and etc.

What she treasures most is the close relationship she has been maintaining with her students for many years. She was invited by students to be the witness of wedding and to provide suggestions on parenting.

Linlin uses the “GREAT” standard to measure students. Good students should be Global citizens, Responsible leaders, Environmental protectors, Academic achievers, and Talented communicators. Meanwhile, they must have the qualities of integrity, kindness, action, enthusiasm, and responsibility, to inherit the profound Chinese culture. 

It is the language proficiency, culture awareness, ideological accommodation, familiar rules and globalization of action that make international talents of NAS Guangzhou.
