Keep a reading diary
Record the date, title and a comment about the book and write down any new words you learnt and try to use them in a sentence.
设置一个阅读角
在一天中设置一个安静阅读的时间。1-3年级学生推荐每周至少阅读5次英语，在父母的陪伴下大声朗读20-30分钟。3年级以上的学生推荐每天大声朗读30-40分钟，最好有家长的陪伴。父母可以用中文问孩子在读什么书，并允许他们犯错误。除此之外，孩子们还可以重温自己喜欢的书，或者单纯为了趣味而阅读。

Make a reading corner
Set up a static quiet reading time in the day. Grade 1-3 students read in English at least 5 times a week out loud with an adult for 20-30 minutes and Grades 3+ read every day out loud for 30-40 minutes preferably with an adult. Parents can take advantage of their mother tongue – ask questions in Chinese to children about what they are reading and allow them to make mistakes. Besides, children can re-read favorite books and read for fun.

Watching English movies and TV is a good way to develop colloquial English understanding, pronunciation, accent, and vocabulary. But don’t watch movies with chinses subtitles and pay attention to the screen time. It can be used as a reward and children are welcome to re watch their favorite movies and TV.

Daily writing, 20-30 minutes a day, can help your child adjust to new language which is also a fantastic way to develop fluency in writing. Diary is a book just for you so do not be scared of making mistakes. You can choose to write between 5-15 sentences a day depending on age. Do you have dreams? When you wake up, write them down in a dream diary.
