The phrase has been among the company’s top advertising slogans since it was founded by Harland David Sanders, also known as Colonel Sanders in 1932. Just to be clear, Colonel Sanders is the guy with the glasses and white beard on the chicken bucket...if you didn't know that already. The phrase "Finger licking good" usually shortened to "Finger lickin' good", is also a common expression of praise for delicious food.
