In fact, "I'mma" is not the contraction of "I'm" followed by "A", but a contraction of "I'm Gonna"- which, of course, is a contraction of "I'm going to", which is itself a contraction of "I am going to". The progression from "I'm gonna" to "I'mma" involves two common phonetic processes, get it ? If you had no idea what I just said, think of it this way ～ "I'mma" is a slang for "I am going to".
