ABOUT GMC
Global Manufacturing and China (GMC) Symposium has been co-organised by Zhejiang University in China and Cambridge University in the UK since the Year 2005 when China was emerging as the world workshop during the manufacturing globalisation. In the last 17 years, the symposium, taken turns in Hangzhou and Cambridge, has observed and discussed dramatic transformations in both global manufacturing and Chinese industry developments. Particularly in the last few years, the external radical changes have fundamentally shifted the established industrial systems and global supply networks as well as the China’s achieved positions towards an unprecedently uncharted area. The current situation makes this year’s GMC workshop, one of the Cambridge Symposium research themes, very unique and timing. There will be two professors share their thoughts and update their research with us. Professor Chen-Fu Chien from National Tsinghua University in Taiwan will be sharing insights from TSMC, in his talk titled ‘Blue Lakes Strategy and the TSMC Way’. And Professor Xiaobo Wu from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou will share his perspectives on industrial digitalisation in his talk ‘Industrial Internet enabling Chinese Manufacturing to go beyond catching-up’.
