楼上楼下学子研读，院内院外桃李满园。桃李园实验学校以学校具体的功能使用结合江南传统书院的空间形态，为中小学生营造了一处受教与自由天性互动、且具地方气质的校园空间。
Students have lessons in the teaching buildings, with the courtyards abound with peaches and plums. The Jiading Taoliyuan Experimental School that combines its specific programs with space models of conventional academies in regions south of the lower reaches of Yangtze River is one that has regional features and encourages interaction between education and the students’ instinctive pursuit of freedom.

本案基地位于菊园新区，菊园新区在上海市嘉定区老城区的西北面，占地18.61平方公里，常住人口4.2万人。基地位于城市次干道城北路以东，树屏路以南，菊二路以西，范家港以北的地块，周边是规划居住区。
Located in the Juyuan New Area, northwest of the old town of Jiading District, the site has an area of 18.61 square metres, with a permanent population of 42,000. It’s bordered by Chengbei Road to the west, Shuping Road to the north, Ju’er Road to the east, Fanjiagang to the south, and surrounded by neighborhoods.

桃李园实验学校分初中部和小学部，中学部建设用地面积约27592平方米， 拟建32个班的规模， 学生1440人，小学部建设用地面积约27619平方米，拟建25个班的规模，学生1000人。
The school consists of primary section and junior high school section. The former with an area of approximately 27,619 square meters will accommodate 25 classrooms and 1,000 students, while the latter that occupies about 27,592 square meters will house 32 classrooms and 1,440 pupils.

将学校的建筑功能，集中布置。中学和小学依次被划分为三段：建筑、集中绿化和运动场地。
The architectural programs are configured compactly. The two sections are divided into three parts: buildings, parkland, and playing field.
该布局将建筑成组团布置。同时，相对集中的建筑布局，为校园赢得了更大面积的绿化和景观。中学与小学的入口面向道路，围合出共同的校前广场，有一个整体的校园形象。该模式从布局上来看，便于营造整个校园的氛围，形成连续开放的校园空间。
Larger space of parkland and landscape are created through this clustered layout. The square in the front of the campus enveloped by the two road-facing entrances presents the overall image of the school. In light of layout, this model could better shape the atmosphere as well as a continuous and open campus space.

我们用院的方式来营造一个园，一个校园。每个院子是一个年级，底层是专业教室，上层是普通教室。院墙之内，绿树蓝天，是宁静的学习场所。而院墙之外，院子与院子之间，又围合出另一个天地，嬉戏玩耍，活跃的游弋。院墙朝此处成为游廊，各处因此被联系起来，开敞自由，是一个真正意义上的校“园”。
We design a campus with all those courtyards. Each of them houses a grade, with specialized classrooms on the ground level and ordinary ones on the first floor. Inside the walls are luxuriant trees and the blue sky, a tranquil place for study. Outside them, openings between courtyards are enclosed to form spaces for sporting. Walls facing them constitute verandas that connect the other spaces. A campus is thus created in a real sense.
