经过美化处理的硬质消防场地,平时可作为户外休憩平台供住户在此休闲聊天;

消防通道经划分,在保证车辆正常通行的同时开辟出一条橡胶跑道,既提高了场地利用率,也增加了场地的功能性;

道路上的材质分割使得空间更加灵活,蜿蜒的园路更加幽深;

 Project Overview

Park Avenue

Hangzhou, China

Client: Vanke Real Estate

Place Design Group was engaged to provide Landscape Architectural services for both the residential community and the commercial street of Vanke Park Avenue. It is nestled closely by the adjoining Caozhuang Park and East Hangzhou Railway Station. The project name Park Avenue is inspired by the famous Park Avenue of New York due to sharing of similar surrounds. The design of the community is based upon multi garden wayfinding paths and luxurious plantings. A neoclassical octagonal water feature decorated with plantings along the street, acts as a focal point in the relatively concise style commercial street.

During the design period, Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province released a new Fire Code which requires a hardened safety zone within the residential area to allow for better operation of ladder fire trucks in the unlikely event of a fire, thus strongly ensuring the life of residents. However, the requirement for a large scale hardened pavement also brought some design challenges for the team. Taking the emergency service and landscape arrangement into comprehensive consideration, our designers visually 'softened' the area, satisfying the new code requirement and creating a usable and visually appealing space for residents.

The area serves as both a gathering and recreation point in non-emergency period.

Rubber jogging track is constructed along the firefighting access.

Curved wayfinding and gardens adds a variety of visual appeal.

All the above treatments do not affect the passage of fire trucks.

Furthermore, the elaborately combined paving materials guide the walking route and define the different functions of the space. Various paving materials create more flexible spaces; winding paths visually deepen the garden.

Stone garden paths, rubber tracks and a wooden recreational area - different materials for different space functions.

Combination of the use of granite, washed stones and wooden materials shows designers' ingenuity.

Vanke Park Avenue was Place Design Group’s first project under the new Fire Code, and thus the first zone to have such requirements for expansive hardened pavement. To visually improve the landscape effect and functionally take full advantage of these areas, the team, at the beginning stage, considered the firefighting access and the landscape arrangement into a whole. Thus, the design ensures that the new firefighting regulation is fully respected while the outdoor recreational spaces and jogging track are designed to create and provide more activity opportunities to the residents. The experiences we gained within this project will assist us to create further professional design on firefighting access in the future.
