Chinese cop wins fame after scolding foreigners

Yet another Chinese cop is being praised for his foreign language skills after busting out some of the characteristic English that he picked up in Singapore during a traffic stop last week.
In a video that went viral on Chinese social media last week, Li Yanqi, a traffic cop in Xi'an is seen speaking to some international students about their motorcycle's lack of license plate. Li says that when he asked the students if they could speak Chinese, they said, "no" (which seems a bit suspicious), forcing him to improvise.
Fortunately, Li had previously spent two years working in Singapore and had managed to learn a bit of "Singlish" during his stay.
"I'll ask you a question," he says. "You driving a car in your country, you need driving license or not?"
The foreigner concedes that he would need a license, but claims that the shop owner he bought the motorcycle from said that he did not need any form of registration to ride it. Employing his best Singlish, Li eventually gets the situation worked out, asking for the students' passports and cards.
For this linguistic display, Li has won fame and acclaim from the Chinese internet with netizens congratulating for his functional English abilities.
