Editor's notes
The home of youth sports is coming!
It's a place where you can experience ice sports in every season.
Let’s take a look at the charm of the North Gymnasium!
01 Overview of the North Gymnasium
The North Gymnasium is located in the eastern sports area of the campus. This sports area has now become a cluster, with the East Sports Field and the Sports Center to the south, and the swimming pool and various outdoor courts to the north.
The North Gymnasium, which consists of tennis courts, table tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, fitness rooms, physical rehabilitation centers, a simulated ski hall, an ice center, a fencing room, squash rooms, and aerobics and artistic gymnastics, includes aboveground and underground areas.
It has two floors above ground and two floors underground. The total indoor area can cover 38,280 square meters, equivalent to six standard football fields, which is the total area of all other indoor sports fields on campus today.
02 No Sports, No Tsinghua
Upon entering the North Gymnasium, one can see the giant slogan on the wall, which carries the assertion of “the transfer value of sports” made by Ma Yuehan in his thesis.
The overall indoor design of the North Gymnasium is rooted in the spirit of Tsinghua’s sports culture. The indoor decoration records the achievements of high-level student-athletes, the records of campus games, and the sports stories of Tsinghua’s community.
Come to the North Gymnasium and have a look, maybe you can become Tsinghua’s next celebrated sporting champion!
03 Diversity of Sporting Venues
The first floor mainly consists of two arenas, four courts for basketball and volleyball, and 16 courts for table tennis. The courts can contain 40 players to play basketball or volleyball and 30-60 players to play table tennis at the same time. In addition, four spacious indoor tennis courts are situated on the second floor.
