2023 marked the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China, facilitating cooperation between over 150 countries. Throughout this decade, Tsinghua scholars have contributed friendship and expertise to this transformative global movement.

In recent years, climate change has become an increasingly critical issue. Collaborative efforts across the globe are required to handle this crisis. In the face of the growing climate challenge, members of the Tsinghua community have stepped forward to propose new initiatives.

This year, Tsinghua announced its second cohort of Global Student Ambassadors. These eight students have done outstanding work in sharing Tsinghua’s stories with the world, starting conversations and promoting understanding between diverse cultures.

Throughout the year, we befriended TsinghuaRen whose interests bridge cultures and fields. We followed the journey of Iranian student Pouya Amani at Tsinghua into the Forbidden City as he explored traditional Chinese arts and crafts and their interesting connections to Iranian culture.

In 2023, E-sports was included as an official event in the Asian Games held in Hangzhou for the first time. We invited Feng Zhuocheng, a Tsinghua student and official League of Legends commentator, to discuss his insights on E-sports today.

This year, we embraced the coming of the 24 traditional solar terms through the lens of Tsinghua students who embody their spirits. Watch as freshman Chen Zimo faces hardships head-on and perseveres in his academic journey, finding beauty in Frost’s Descent.

Winter Solstice is a time for return and reunion. Join us in exploring stories of Tsinghua Professors Zhang Bo, Zhu Jun and Associate Professor Chen Jianfei as they pursue their dreams in AI and contribute to the construction of the nation’s high-tech projects and advanced technology development.

Finding passion and inspiration in her studies and acting alike, Thai student Yang Xiuhua shared her experiences going through the rigorous but rewarding tasks of penning her graduation thesis and performing in an original musical by the Tsinghua Drama Troupe.

The dual passions of life sciences and sports motivate Kazakh student Shadi Aldabergenov to become a better version of himself. Shadi discussed his active pursuit of scientific knowledge and his participation in powerlifting and American football at Tsinghua.
