Celebrating Tsinghua's anniversary with student stories

Many Tsinghua students hold rich memories and stories about the anniversary. Let's explore the experiences of several Tsinghua students during the school's anniversary celebrations. These unique moments have deepened their connection to the anniversary and to Tsinghua University itself.

He Simeng

I came to Beijing back in 2019, marking my first time studying in the northern part of China. Now it's my fifth year! I did both my master's and doctorate in the School of Law.

Since joining the Student Journalism Team in 2019, I've been actively involved in news reporting for every school anniversary. My responsibilities have included interviewing alumni, crafting anniversary push notifications, and composing newsletters, among other tasks.

To me, the school anniversary is just an ordinary yet lively day! I wish every day could be like this! Special tasks on this day include visiting various departments to find alumni of different ages. Often, alumni have many stories to share, but due to space constraints, not all can be fully captured in writing. Experiencing the stories of others at school is, I believe, the most meaningful part of participating in anniversary work and activities.

Ye Zhe

I'm an undergraduate student majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction Management at Tsinghua, and I've been living and studying here for nearly four years. When I first entered the university, it coincided with Tsinghua's 110th anniversary. I vividly remember securing tickets to the anniversary performance and attending it as an audience member at the Zi Jing Sports Field that night. That experience inspired me to actively participate in future anniversary celebrations.

During the 111th and 112th anniversaries of Tsinghua, I had the opportunity to participate as a host reporter in the official live broadcasts, where I captured and shared the event's wonderful moments through the camera. This type of celebration allowed me to share joy with the Tsinghua community. I hope to continue this tradition for this year's 113th anniversary, spreading the joy and inspiration I feel in my heart with Tsinghua and the wider community.

Fedor

I am Fedor from Russia. I have been living and studying at Tsinghua University for three years now.

During my time here, I have joined the university’s relay race which was part of the celebration activities. It was a great way to bond with my fellow students and to experience the spirit of camaraderie. Additionally, I also took part in the collective dance festivities, which were a lot of fun and allowed me to immerse myself in the vibrant culture of Tsinghua’s anniversary celebrations.

The celebration means a lot to me. It’s not just about commemorating the university’s founding; it’s also a time to reflect on my own growth and experiences here. It’s an opportunity to connect with the community, celebrate the achievements of the university, and feel a sense of belonging to this prestigious institution.

Li Yuting

I was a member of the student flag guard and the Electronics Department's track and field team, giving me deeper experiences at both the flag-raising ceremony and the sports meet. Last year's flag-raising ceremony was my first time marching in the four-by-six formation and seeing classmates from different majors gather to watch. Similar emotions were evoked on the athletics field. In this annual event, everyone strives for personal bests and collective honors. Watching the athletes give their all and support one another, regardless of their majors, I felt a profound sense of love and commitment. This spirit of perseverance and virtue is truly inspiring. Sharing these moments of excellence with like-minded teammates on such a significant day is a memory I will cherish forever.

Many Tsinghua students hold rich memories and stories about the anniversary.  Here's to many more years of shared experiences.
