5月4日，英国新增新冠肺炎感染者3985例，累计190584例。新增死亡288例，累计死亡28734例。

这是英国自3月底以来单日死亡人数最低的一天。不过英国卫生大臣马特·汉考克表示，由于周末的原因，统计数据可能不全，周二死亡数字或许会有所上涨。

英国首相约翰逊面向全国民众发表了90秒的视频讲话，感谢了英国人民的共同努力，目前新冠肺炎已经过了增长高点，但是仍然有5个考验，因为这些考验直接关系着因新冠疫情引发的封城措施的放松。

新冠患者日死亡率稳定持续下降。

感染率下降至可控范围内。

新冠测试装备及个人防护装备完全充足。

有信心对目前政策的任何改变都不会导致疫情的二次爆发。

这五项指标仍然在谨慎评估中，目前可以看到的是英国已经开始为解封做准备了。

Hi, folks.

Thank you for all you’ve been doing to stop the spread of coronavirus. Thanks to all of you. I believe we are making progress and passing through the peak. But we will only be able to move onto the second phase of this conflict when our five tests have been met. So here’s a reminder of those five crucial tests. 

1. The NHS must have sufficient capacity to provide critical care and specialist treatment right across the U.K.

2. There must be a sustained and consistent fall in daily deaths from coronavirus. 

3. There must be reliable data to show that the rate of infection is deceasing to manageable levels across the board. 

4. Operational challenges including testing and PPE must be in hand with supply able to meet future demand. And…

5. We must be confident that any adjustments to the current measures will not risk a second peak of infections that overwhelms the NHS. 

Then will be the time to move on to the second phase. And the worst thing we could do now is ease up too soon and allow a second peak of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson co-hosted a major international conference to drive forward the global race for coronavirus vaccines, treatments and tests – and called on other countries to step up their efforts and work together on the ‘most urgent shared endeavour of our lifetimes’.

The Prime Minister’s call to action came during the virtual Coronavirus Global Response International Pledging Conference, which is co-hosted by the UK and eight other countries and organisations.

He confirmed the UK’s pledge of £388m in UK aid funding for research into vaccines, tests and treatments – part of a larger £744m existing UK aid commitment to help end the pandemic and support the global economy.

This includes £250m for the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to develop vaccines against coronavirus – the biggest such donation to the fund by any country.

Speaking to the conference, the Prime Minister said: “To win this battle, we must work together to build an impregnable shield around all our people, and that can only be achieved by developing and mass producing a vaccine.

“The more we pull together and share our expertise, the faster our scientists will succeed. The race to discover the vaccine to defeat this virus is not a competition between countries, but the most urgent shared endeavour of our lifetimes.

“It’s humanity against the virus – we are in this together, and together we will prevail.”
