家长来稿｜教育始于家庭 Education starts at home

　　大家常说: 家庭是孩子的第一所学校，父母是孩子的第一任老师。不可否认，孩子最初的性格养成就是受父母日常教育的影响。健全的性格是人一生中最重要的财富。因此每个父母都想自己的孩子成为一个乐观积极，独立自主，追求上进的人。应该如何培养孩子的良好性格是一个永远讨论不完的话题。以下只是自己的一点分享。

学会倾听　　不会倾听孩子需求的父母决不能称之为合格的父母。当孩子和你说: “ 妈妈，你看我画的太阳好看吗?” 也许你正沉浸于微信朋友圈，头也不抬的”嗯”了一下算是肯定。长此以往，孩子就会觉得敷衍也是一种生活态度，他也会以同样的方式去应付别人。但如果当时你放下手机,认真的回答他的问题，即使这个回答不是赞美之词，他也很乐意你能关注到他的需求。

培养耐心和专注力　　让孩子静下心来能养成他做事专一的性格。阅读是培养这一性格的最佳途径之一。每天我们都应该匀出时间给孩子讲故事, 也许他还不能参透故事的道理，但这一良好的习惯已经慢慢让他学会了专心致志。

多带孩子出去走走　　“世界那么大,我想去看看”，这句话也能道出孩子的心声。让孩子感知、探索大自然的秘密更能激发他的求知欲，保持积极乐观的心态。

但家庭教育因为施教者的能力和物理空间的局限性，无法满足孩子全方位的发展。这时，学校这个大家庭就能恰到好处的发挥了它的优势。如今的上学已不单纯是在学校里获得知识教育，更多的还有培养孩子们的团队合作，创新精神，动手能力，以及参与丰富多彩的课外活动。正如三月协和学校开展的艺术节活动，不仅让孩子们充分展示了自己的艺术才能，而且让家长们感受到了他们遨游在艺术海洋里的快乐。 正如某位学者说过：教育始于母亲膝下，孩童耳听一言一语均影响其性格的形成。这句话阐述了家庭教育的重要性。另一句：教育不是注满一桶水，而是点燃一把火。正是学校教育所追求的目标。

As people say :” The family is the first school for a child, and parents are their teachers.” It cannot be denied that a child’s character is influenced by his parents’ daily education. Healthy character is the most important wealth in a person’s whole life. Therefore parents expect their child to be an optimistic, independent and aspirant person. How to cultivate a child’s good personality becomes a permanent issue. I can share my experience from my four-years-old boy.

Giving ear to your childParents are qualified when they’re willing to give ear to their child. When your baby asks:” Mom, do you like my painting?” Maybe you’re indulging in wechatting and pay no attention to his question. Likewise, your child will treat others in this indifferent way and regard it as a life attitude. However, if you answer his question seriously, he is very pleasant to your response even if you don’t praise him.

 Cultivating you child’s Patience and ConcentrationConcentration can be practiced when a child immerses himself in a subject. One of the best ways to achieve this is reading. Every day parents should spare their time reading for their child. Even if the child can’t comprehend the meaning of the story, he can have a good habit of concentration. 

Exploring the world with your childA famous saying online describes that the world is so beautiful that attracts me to explore. Your child is also eager to do that. Probing the secrets of Nature can motivate his desire for knowledge and keeps his optimism.

However, due to the limitation of the family space and parents’ competence, the child cannot develop himself in an all-round way. Then the school can exploit its advantages to the full to help children appropriately.
Nowadays, going to the school no longer means getting knowledge. Children need the spirit of teamwork, innovation and handling ability, and take part in various extracurricular activities. For example, In March, SUIS held the 11th Art Festival. Children fully present their amazing talents and parents can feel their happiness from the performance.
As one scholar says: Education commences at the mother’s knee, and every word spoken within the hearsay of children tends towards the formation of character. It tells the importance of family education from parents. Another saying is that Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire, which reflects the goal a school pursues.
