1. Purpose of the Consultancy WHO China seeks the services of a six month graphic design consultant to develop infographics, videos, posters, and other communications products. 

 
2. Background The WHO Country Office in China views communications as a means to build and amplify public conversation around important health reforms and pave the way for more thoughtful and engaging dialogue with decision-makers about reform alternatives. The office engages in communications activities around key priorities within the Office’s work program – including health system reform; tobacco control and non-communicable diseases; strengthening regulatory systems for drugs, vaccines, and food safety; the “unfinished business” of infectious diseases such as hepatitis, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS. Through a mix of media engagement, creative off-line events, social media presence, and strategically important external partnerships, the office provides proactive communications support that fuels technical discussions and reforms. 
 
In line with this approach, the WHO China Office is seeking to hire a 6-month Communications Consultant to help the office create visually distinctive communications products around priority health campaigns.

China is making progress to ensure that vulnerable children are able to access child protection services. UNICEF works with the Chinese government to help develop and expand the best possible child protection measures. Our Child Protection programme helps children across China, primarily in remote rural areas, among ethnic minority groups, and on urban streets. We work on a wide range of projects, including piloting programs to help reintegrate street children into society, contributing to the development of day care centres that provide services to disabled children, facilitating the provision of services like education and healthcare to migrant children, and collaborating with authorities on procedures for responding to child trafficking.


How can you make a difference?

We are now looking for multiple interns to join our Child Protection team. The selected interns will work in one of the following two areas. 

·Social work oriented interns - to support and improve programme documentation as well as knowledge management related to social work for children.

·Child welfare, research, or child protection oriented interns - To support and improve programme communication, documentation as well as knowledge management.


The social work oriented interns will

·Collect and summarize policy papers and good practices from other countries on professional social work system, including: policy documents on social worker's statutory role in child related work, in particular in child protection, including mandatory reporting, and required social work positions in the government structure; policy on the accreditation for social workers; standard and indicators for social work for children; assessment framework of the service provided by social work agencies by the government;

·Collect and summarize good practices of para-social work's roles and functions, including job description and minimum requirements of para-social workers; career development and support for para-social workers, such as training materials, coaching, supervision, link with professional social work agencies; good practice in providing social work services in rural/remote areas; and using online platforms/apps as a tool to provide capacity building.

·Assist in collection and analysis of project related data, including case studies from the field, for sharing with partners implementing the pilot;

·Contribute to project discussion on social work online learning platform;

·Support translation between English and Chinese of project related documents 

 

The child protection oriented interns will work on:

· Summary and translation of Provincial Child State Report from Chinese to English

· Chinese to English translation of Barefoot Social Worker Project annual report and posters

· Chinese to English translation of 2018 Child Welfare Policy Stocktaking report

· Chinese to English translation of other short project related documents and materials, including agenda and participants list of events, conference, meetings.

· Support the development of on-line and simplified workshop Barefoot Social Worker (BFSW) training modules.

· Convert key messages into WeChat format for BFSW public Wechat and Weibo APPs

· Convert existing training material into video/ppt

· Support the updating of child welfare/protection advocator guide and conduct training workshop

· Participate in Child advocators trainings and school-based awareness raising on child protection

· Support High level advocacy summer camp and national social mobilization event for the care of vulnerable children in July

 

To qualify as an intern you will be / have…

· A university student with major in social work (social work oriented interns) or in english, arts, child welfare for child protection oriented intern

· Previous volunteer/intern experience desired but not necessary.

· Fluency in English and Chinese is required.

· Good computer skill is required.

Job Description:

The key responsibilities of the Assistant are to provide necessary support to IT Division include document filing, procurement and contract management, budget management, administrative management and coordination, liaison with internal & external contacts, etc.


IT Support:

Assist to organize the shared information within IT team on collaboration platform, i.e., Microsoft Office365. Support team members maintaining filing systems of project documents, ensuring timely update of internal filing system and project knowledge properly harvested.

Assist the team to manage the logistics of service providers, such as applying and revoking the access of on-site service personnel of vendors

Assist to manage the IT asset

Assist to coordinate meetings

Understand IT terminology and prepare minutes during internal discussion

Assist to organize regular IT trainings

Assist to create posters or other format, i.e., email announcements, for IT awareness within the Bank on own initiative or under instruction.


Procurement and Contract Support:

Maintain the filing of IT contractual documents; assist to check missing deliverables according to the contract during the invoice process.

Liaise with procurement team, provide assistance during procurement process, monitoring the procurement progress of IT projects to achieve deadline.

Track the expiration of license and service procured, remind IT staff for contract renewal in advance.


Budget and Expense Support:

Assist with budgetary matter, create, track and document expense claim of service providers and IT personnel, monitor expense execution of IT Division.

Maintain the filing of invoice and related documents for audit purpose.


IT Equipment and Asset Support:

Assist with IT equipment and asset management matter.

Be the recipient of IT equipment, goods, and asset delivered to the Bank.

Represent IT Division to work with external service providers for equipment and asset’s distribution and recycling. Maintain the record, track, and check the inventory.

Remind IT staff in advance when inventory is low. 


Administrative Support:

Support the team of meetings and events, or IT training for staffs including developing list of participants, preparing letters of invitation, reservation of meeting rooms and hotel accommodation, dispatching of materials and liaising with participants and others involved.

Process requests for office supplies by staff.

Arrange for team members’ travel, transportation, accommodation and events.

Assist professionals preparing presentation slides using Power Point and other software packages.

Finalize correspondence/reports for signature/clearance.


Ad-Hoc Support:

Undertake ad-hoc assignments at the discretion of the supervisor.


Selection Criteria:

Bachelor degree or above in Information Management, or Computer Science, or related fields from a reputable university

Proficient in verbal/written English and Chinese

Well versed in organizing documents and data

Self-motivated and detail-oriented; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; service orientation

Proven experience with MS Office Applications is a must
