Congratulations on another year of record-breaking results
Globally, this year’s road to university admission has been full of uncertainties. Pupils around the world have faced a number of exceptional challenges, particularly during the exam season. Fortunately, with the passion, support and dedication of Wellington College China’s professional staff and quality resources behind them, our pupils have once again excelled to achieve record-breaking results.
Exam grades for the International Baccalaureate (IB), General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programmes have now been released. We would like to extend our utmost congratulations to our pupils for their outstanding academic achievements – well done!
Wellington College in Tianjin
Our schools offer both IGCSE and GCE A-Level programmes for Chinese pupils who may wish to apply to overseas universities. Since its establishment in 2011, the school has seen consistent and exceptional results from its pupils, many of whom receive offers from some of the world’s top universities every year.
This year, our pupils have achieved the school’s best ever results for their GCE A-Level and IGCSE exams:
We would like to specifically recognise the efforts of Ezra, a pupil who achieved A* grades in six exam subjects – the top score for GCE A-Level exams.
Congratulations to all!
Wellington College International Shanghai
Established in 2014, Wellington College International Shanghai provides both IB and IGCSE programmes for its pupils. The school has secured impressive results over the last four years since it has undertaken public examinations, with more than 40% of graduates securing offers from the world’s top 10 universities in 2020.
Furthermore, Wellington College International Shanghai pupils have once again surpassed prior years and achieved outstanding exam results:
In addition, we are also pleased to share that pupils from our alma mater, Wellington College in England, obtained an average score of 40 for their IB exams this year! (N.B. The standard IB score for entrance to Oxford University is 39).
As fellow members of the Wellington College China family, Huili School Hangzhou and Huili School Shanghai are equally pleased and proud of all our pupils' great achievements. Pupils from Huili School Hangzhou and Huili School Shanghai have yet to graduate, but are on track to have an equally bright future ahead of them, and relish the opportunity that Wellington College China affords them.

We are extremely proud of all our pupils, who, despite the many challenges they faced this past year, truly gave their all. Guided by our Wellington values – Courage, Kindness, Responsibility, Respect and Integrity – the perseverance and persistence shown by our pupils is truly deserving of our commendation.
As an holistic education provider, our duty is to support and encourage young Wellingtonians to explore their passions throughout their time in school – both academic and non-academic. Our pupils consistently demonstrate great talent and achieve excellence in the arts, sports and academic fields – each a vital component of their holistic character.
We would like to leave you with a quote from Ms Joy Qiao, the Founder of Wellington College China:
Our pupils receiving great offers from top institutes is some of the best news I could hope for. What makes me happiest, however, is our pupils going in a diverse range of academic directions – the holistic education at Wellington College China has inspired them to pursue whatever is their passion. Studying at top institutes is but another step for them to achieve further success in their lives.
