“只有未曾想象，没有不可创造” 英文怎么翻译？
前天在做一个新闻发布会文稿的翻译，碰到这句话，一时间没有想到非常好的表达。于是乎在微博上贴出了这个问题：
截止到目前为止，已经收到20多个不同版本的翻译, 我摘选了其中16个版本：
1.Where imagination goes, creation follows.
2.Where there is imagination,there comes innovation.
3.If you can dream it, you can make it.
4.Creation is only limited by imagination.
5.Imagination sets the boundary of creation.
6.If it can be imagined, it can be created.
7.All that can be imagined will be created.
8.Doers see no limit.
9.We can create anything you want or even beyond your imagination.
10.Unleash imagination for boundless creation.
11.Nothing is impossible,unless it dosen't occure to you!
12.Innovation, limited only by imagination, has no boundary.
13.Creation always overwhelms imagination.
14.There’s nothing couldn’t be made, only never thought of before.
15.Anything can be created while something yet to be imagined.
16.Creativity defies imagination.
16个不同的翻译版本没有对错之分，只能说适不适合，好或者不好。具体还要看语境来做分析。
前面提到，这是一个新闻稿的中文标题，“只有未曾想象，没有不可创造” 。
两大品牌进行跨界合作，共同发布联名款产品，这在两个行业都是首次。从这个角度而言，“创造”这里更多的偏向于“创新并诞生出新事物”这层意思，注意这里的逻辑，不光有创新，还诞生了新事物，表示结果。所以译文中如果单纯只突出创新innovation或创意creativity，是不够的，或者说意思表达并不完整。
下面的10个版本在这个语境下都显得不太合适，意思表达偏颇或不完整。
2.Where there is imagination,there comes innovation. （不完整）
3.If you can dream it, you can make it. （太绝对）
6.If it can be imagined, it can be created. (太绝对)
7.All that can be imagined will be created. （太绝对）
8.Doers see no limit. （强调重心不一样）
9.We can create anything you want or even beyond your imagination.（太绝对）
11.Nothing is impossible,unless it dosen't occure to you!（太绝对）
12.Innovation, limited only by imagination, has no boundary.（不完整）
14.There’s nothing couldn’t be made, only never thought of before.（偏颇）
15.Anything can be created while something yet to be imagined.(太绝对）
16.Creativity defies imagination.（不完整）
如果说innovation或者creativity这两个词用在这里都不合适，那有没有合适的选择呢？
当然有， creation一词非常不错。词典中给出creation的含义如下：the act of starting something for the first time; introducing something new. 大致意思是“首次开启新的东西；引入新的东西”，刚好可以表示我们这个语境下的“创造”一词。
下面5个版本从词义表达上完全符合，形式上略有差异：
1.Where imagination goes, creation follows.
4.Creation is only limited by imagination.
5.Imagination sets the boundary of creation.
10.Unleash imagination for boundless creation.
13.Creation always overwhelms imagination.
“只有未曾想象，没有不可创造” 。汉语这种对仗的结构读起来气势感很强，鼓动性也很强。
放在新闻标题中一方面指代文稿内容，提纲挈领，又能起到非常好的宣传效果。在下面5个版本中，我最喜欢的版本是 Where imagination goes, creation follows.
这个版本读起来语感和节奏非常好，我个人非常喜欢。Where A goes, B follows. 生动形象。让我想起来美国歌手理查德一首非常好听的英文歌曲：Wherever you go, whatever you do，I will be right here waiting for you;
其它几个版本：4和5表意非常完整到位，但读起来感觉稍显平淡。版本10更加侧重主动的动作unleash，意思上有些偏颇，没有很好的突出创造和想象之间的关系。版本13加上always其实还是略显绝对，去掉always，表达不那么锋芒，更加合适。
对仗式的标语中翻英在翻译中比较棘手，要想翻好并非易事。需要考虑几个方面的因素：
1.标语虽短，翻译时意思不能遗漏。本来意思表达简短，倘若遗漏，更容易失去原有的含义。
2.不要脱离语境翻译。同样一句汉语表达，缺乏语境我们会得到25个不同的版本，足以显现语境多么重要。
3.选词时尽可能多头脑风暴。查看英文解释，然后逐一借助排除法进行筛选，最后得到自己最想要并且最符合语境上下文的词汇。
余光中老师曾经说：“ 大翻译家都是高明的“文字的媒婆”，他得具有一种能力，将两种并非一见钟情甚至是冤家的文字，配成情投意合的一对佳偶。”
这种能力大概是什么能力呢？我觉得就是对两种语言的敏感能力。那“敏感能力”从何而来？
