Blaze Engulfs Beijing Market, 46 Fire Engines Deployed

A fire broke out at Naixi market in Chaoyang this morning, Xinhua reports.

According to the Beijing fire department the blaze occurred at Naixi market, which sells secondhand books, antiques, furniture and other goods.

The fire was reported at 7.45am, and 46 fire engines were dispatched to the scene. Police blocked off surrounding areas and were forced to divert traffic so that the firetrucks could reach the market.

The blaze was put out at 9.00am, and no casualties have been reported. Crews are currently cleaning up the area. The cause of the fire is now being investigated.
