There Are Two New Bars Named Mokihi, But Which Should You Go To?
Mokihi Versus... Mokihi
Mokihi 1%ers
Location: You’ll feel like you’re about to be murdered when your cab stops at a nondescript row of warehouses somewhere near Sanyuanqiao. You’ll feel even more like a future homicide victim when you enter the unmarked garage in which this bar hides.
Behind the bar: Cheerful bartenders who will make you a drink based on your taste preferences (no menu, folks).
Atmosphere: Making us enter through an abandoned warehouse is a strangely effective way of getting us to appreciate this bar’s cozy vibe. Also: There’s a classy Harley-Davidson theme. (“Classy Harley-Davidson” is not an oxymoron.)
Try this: An old-fashioned (RMB85 and up, with whichever whiskey you like). Bartender Zoe is happy to talk options with you.
Price range: Cocktails RMB75 and up. (Way up.)
Takeaway: There are a lot of speakeasies in Beijing, but this one just might be the speakeasiest of them all.

Mokihi No. 3
Location: No. 3 is in 3.3 Mall, get it? You’ll find this Mokihi on the top floor of this once-gaudy shopping center, in a secluded corner behind Mega Vintage. One might term this a ‘speakeasy.’ And yet, this Sanlitun local is veritably convenient.
Behind the bar: Creative cocktails with style and substance. Plus, the nicest bartenders you’ll ever meet.
Atmosphere: Cocktail bars with leather couches and vintage knick-knacks have become cliche. But the decor here hits comforting notes without striking the pretentious ones, and a view of the flashy InterContinental makes it stand out.
Try this: Delay in M (RMB90), a classed-up gin-and-juice with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Yeah, you heard us – parmesan.
Price range: Signature cocktails from RMB80-95.
Takeaway: This is our new favorite when we want something off the beaten path – but in Sanlitun.
