Stand up Against LGBT Discrimination by Dining for Diversity
In case you haven't heard of it before, Dining for Diversity is a fun and creative Beijing Gender initiative. The idea is to raise awareness and advocate for gender and sexual equality in China while eating great food with your nearest and dearest.
Because this is a global initiative, Dining for Diversity events will be held all over Beijing -- and around the world -- on May 20. The goal of these dinner parties is to raise awareness and funds for programs run by Beijing Gender in China and abroad. So this truly is dining for a good cause.
But here's the really fun part. You can host your own Dining for Diversity dinner party!
Here's how it works:
If you want to host a party, invite as many friends as you can, tell them what the dinner is all about, cook up some of those new recipes you've been meaning to try (or simply order a pizza) and, most importantly, have fun.
What makes this event so powerful is that people from all over the world can participate and send out messages of equality. You can share images from your dinner party on the Dining for Diversity Facebook page. Just make sure to use the hashtags #DiningForDiversity and #BeijingGender20Years.
At the end of the evening all donations will be collected and sent to aj@bghei.org (just email AJ if you have any questions on how to send donations). The goal is to raise RMB100,000 from all dinners hosted this month.
Venue: Your home
Suggested Date: May 20 (This date is flexible. You can choose any date around May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia)
Suggested donation: RMB300 or above per person
The goal: Beijing Gender hopes to raise RMB100,000 from all dinner parties
