Shared Chairs Debut in Beijing, Over Half Stolen on 1st Day
By Justine Lopez
In Beijing you can get just about anything in the city's booming shared economy -- shared beds, shared bikes and now, shared stools.
But just like the whole shared beds debacle, the shared folding chair idea turned out to be kind of a bust.
A company launched their shared folding stool service on Sunday. But surprise, surprise, over half of the stools were stolen on the very first day.
The company started by placing roughly 1,000 folding chairs around the capital's bus stations and stops. However, because the stools are easy to carry it's no huge shock that Beijingers were easily able to walk away with them. It definitely didn't help that most users forgot to lock the chairs after using them, making it all the more easy to just take the stools.
It also didn’t help that the company chose to launch this new service during what turned out to be a pretty epic rainstorm.
Back to the drawing board with this one.
