China Grants Ivanka Trump 16 Trademarks

As polls close in what has been dubbed by some pundits as ‘the most important American midterm election in recent memory,’ one person will be celebrating regardless of the outcome: the president’s favorite child, Ivanka Trump.

According to a report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) published on November 5, Ivanka has received a total of 16 new trademark approvals in China “while her father continues to wage a trade war” with the country.

The trademarks were first applied for back in 2016, according to CREW, and cover a range of fashion products, such as wedding dresses, jewelry, purses and shoes. Ivanka, who serves as an advisor to President Trump, also secured a number of seemingly random trademarks, including sausage casings (a Trump-branded wiener, anyone?), nursing home items and voting machines (#widespreadvoterfraud).

While Ivanka Trump shuttered her namesake brand earlier this year in the wake of boycotts and declining retailer interest, she is allegedly continuing to seek new trademarks. CREW notes that many of Ivanka’s currently held trademarks will remain in place for another decade, which may mean a return to the business world once her stint in politics comes to a close.
