The new app gives on-demand access to naked Hub’s high-end co-working centres

naked Hub, the biggest premium coworking operator in Asia, has become the first flexible office provider to offer online, on-demand access to space with the launch this week of its naked Hub GO service.

Coming just two months after the innovative shared economy startup won a deal to equip a major office building in Shanghai with its Community-As-A-Service app, this latest tech breakthrough makes naked Hub the world’s first flexible office provider to bring the automated, online interface that has revolutionised bike sharing and ride sharing to the world of real estate.

“naked Hub is very pleased to be launching this game changing innovation and we believe that today’s announcement represents a landmark in the global evolution of workspace. The naked brand has always been about rethinking and redesigning in order to be more friendly to the environment and stop the horrible wastage of precious resources, including real estate. Today we unlock urban commercial real estate in a way that’s more efficient for all stakeholders,” said Grant Horsfield, founder of naked Group.

With the launch of the mobile-enabled service in Shanghai this week, users of the office provider’s mobile app, or of a dedicated WeChat mini-app can, with a few taps on a smart phone, find an available work space or living room in any of the company’s 17 centres in the city, check in, get their work done, check out and pay, all via smart phone. The service promises the ability to have 24/7 co-working access and all without needing to book a room in advance, wait for help from a receptionist or stand in line to settle payment.

Redefining the Co-Working Membership Model

While naked Hub will continue to offer its full-time membership, the naked Hub GO service promises to make anyone who enters one of the Shanghai-based companies facilities into a “Hubber,” as the members often call themselves.

The integrated online and offline technology enables users to discover available locations nearby, see real time occupancy, and seamlessly check in and check out. The company sees the sharing economy innovation as disrupting the traditional business-to-business flexible office model by transforming office space into a consumer service.

Scan to open the door, and skip the receptionist

“It’s a thrill to build disruptive products. Today’s launch redefines big concepts including ‘real estate’, ‘coworking’, and how people use space,” said Dominic Penaloza, Chief Innovation Officer for naked Group. “Outside of private offices, why are cities devoid of places to actually get work done or have a business meeting? We asked ourselves why the booming entrepreneur segment, freelance professional segment, and the entire ‘Third Space” segment have no choice except coffee shops, and we decided to change all that.”

Accessing Office Space Via QR Code

According to Penaloza, a consumer could find the nearest naked Hub on a map view, access the centre by scanning a QR code on WeChat or the naked Hub App, and then use the facility, paying only for the time that they stayed. As for naked Hub’s full-time members, access to a naked Hub also means access not only to the center’s wifi, but also to an unlimited supply of coffee, soft drinks and beer.

The naked Hub GO service, like the full-time memberships offered at each naked Hub, gives Hubbers access to the online and offline business networking offered through each centre and via the naked Hub app, including a dedicated business matchmaking service.

On demand means paying only for the minutes that you use the room

The matchmaking service helps members to meet relevant new contacts, provides a virtual bulletin board where members help each other to solve business needs, and provides access to the hundreds of offline community events that bring together the naked Hub community every month.

Online Innovation Keeps Pace With Offline Expansion

“naked Hub is uniquely positioned to offer naked Hub GO due to our strong investment in great locations and large living rooms in every location that enabled us to have the most successful hot desk service in China, combined with the hospitality service experience execution and Internet mindset and technology competence that is in our DNA,” said Jon Seliger, CEO of naked Hub.

The spin off of resort operator naked Group currently operates co-working facilities in Hong Kong, Australia, the UK and Vietnam, in addition to mainland China, and says it has plans to roll out naked Hub GO to more cities in the near future. The company acquired Australia’s Gravity flexible office platform in January, and currently has some 50 new centres in its development pipeline.
