丨课程理念丨
SCI-ARC Initiative China 2018 offering an intensive 4-weeks design course for “Digital Design & Fabrication in 3D-Printing, Virtual/ Augment Realityand Interactives Robotics.” Participants will receive acertificate of completion from SCI-Arc and will be eligible to apply to SCI-Arc’s Architecture program in Fall 2019 with an advanced-standingapplication.Distinguished graduate Steven Ma(M.Arch 2 ‘08) principal and founder of China’s first 3D-printing design brand, Xuberance, will lead the 4-weekfull-time cross-over satellite initiative in Shanghai & Beijing. TheSCI-Arc Initiative will offer a creative and intensive fabrication and designexperience for all students interested in pursuing a career in architecture anddesign. It is intended to jumpstart an education at SCI-Arc and may offerentrance scholarships to individuals noted for top performance marks in theinitiative. The courses will offer the latest design process of additivemanufacturing, AR/VR and robotics. Studios will combine complex digitalsculpting /modeling, industrial design engineering and 3D printing.
This program is designed for students, architects, designers, artists, andindividuals of all backgrounds who wish to engage with new techniques ofcomplex geometric modeling in digital design & advanced fabricationtechnique of additive manufacturing and robotics. It offers new means to designinquiry where participants will actively use and explore computational toolsboth in stages of concept and practice. It is a full-time program requires aminimum of 40 hrs per week. Each Theme Workshop will have a duration of Minimumof 5 days. It will be instructed by SCI-Arc Alumni & Faculties. Studentswill have access to the digital fabrication Lab from Xuberance Inno Center Shanghaiand Beijing as well as the China 3D-Printing Cultural Museum. Includes: 3D-Printing & Robotic Labs/Campus Cafeteria & Lounges/ Recreational Facilities)

丨导师介绍丨
Steven MA 从美国南加州建筑大学（SCI-Arc）获得建筑硕士学位，在2008年获得美国建筑师学会（AIA）颁发的 HenryAdam Medal奖章（全美最佳建筑优秀硕士毕业奖）。毕业项目设计被Archilab和Sci-Arc收藏，毕业后曾效力美国加州Xefirotarch建筑事务所，2008年受邀至维也纳应用美术大学建筑系任教，并在蓝天组(Coop Himmelbla)担任设计建筑师职务并在蓝天组创建人Wolf.D. Prix的亲自督导下攻读博士研究。
Steven Ma is a design architect for Coop-himmelb(L)au in Vienna, specialized in digital visualizations, 3d management & productions. He is also the assistant professor in the "Excessive" post-graduate program at the University for Aplied Arts Vienna, Austria. He has worked as a lead designer for Xefirotarch in Los Angeles from 2006-2008.
Born in Hong Kong, Steven holds a master of architecture degree from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in 2008, where he graduated with distinction and he has been awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal and the Best Overall Graduated Thesis Award entitled “Xuberance: Liminal Form & Calligraphical Aesthetics”. He also holds a bachelor of architecture degree from Ryerson University in 2005, graduated with honour and awarded Best Thesis Award.
Steven Ma has lectured at The Bartlett School of Architecture in 2011. He also did several advanced digital workshops which focus on digital design evolution and digital representational techniques at The Institute of Architecture in Dessau, Germany and The Institute of architecture in Wien, Austria.
In 2010, Steven established his own experimental design studio “Xuberance”.

SCI-ARC Initiative China 2018 will be instructed by Steven Ma & SCI-Arc Faculty aswell as invited guests. Workshop will be held in English and run primarilyusing Autodesk MAYA/ Zbrush/ Rhino/ Grasshopper/ Processing/ UnReal Engine/Materialise Magics etc. Participants need to bring their own laptops orworkstations. Program results will be exhibited at SCI-Arc Alumni Party Eventin 2018 Summer Beijing.
