It is our great pleasure to invite you to join and submit your papers to the 14th International Congress of Asian Planning Schools Association (APSA 2017) that will be held on 12- 14 October 2017 in Tsinghua University (THU), Beijing, China.


About APSA

For more than 20 years, Asian Planning Schools Association (APSA) has become a non-profit and non-political association that aims at providing opportunities for scholars and planners to discuss issues related to planning, to exchange opinions and understand the problems of planning in Asian countries, and to foster new generations of academics and professional planners in Asia. The International Congress of Asian Planning Schools Association is held every 2 years. 


Main Theme


Asia:Reshaping urban and rural development through planning 


As the world enter the “urban era”, both urban and rural areas are facing unprecedented challenges. The breaking of the traditional coordinated urban-rural balance dangers the sustainable development of a region or even a country. During this process, planning, as one of the most significant tools of public intervention, play both a positive and negative role in shaping the urban and rural development. For all Asian countries, how to rebuild a new balance between the urban and rural areas to promote coordinated urban-rural development through planning has already become a common and urgent issue. 


Sub Theme

Sub-Theme 1: Governance

This track is organised in the following topics:

    · Regional governance and coordination

    · Integration of economy and ecology

    · Regional transportation and infrastructure planning

    · Regional responses to climate change

    · Planning strategies for coordinated urban-rural development

Sub-Theme 2: Identity/Heritage

This track is organised in the following topics:

    · Rurality

    · Urban culture

    · Historical and cultural heritage protection

    · Urban and rural regeneration

    · Renewal of traditional wisdom on human settlements planning

Sub-Theme 3: Solidarity/Equity

This track is organised in the following topics:

    · Integration of urban and rural areas

    · Affordable urban and rural housing

    · Inclusive social development

    · Public participation in planning

    · Construction of rural community

Sub-Theme 4: Sustainability/Environment

This track is organised in the following topics:

    · Resilient city

    · Disaster mitigation

    · Ecosystem protection and restoration

    · Low-carbon planning

    · Healthy urban and rural planning

Sub-Theme 5: Smart/Intelligence

This track is organised in the following topics:

    · Smart city and smart village

    · Big data application

    · Spatial analysis methods

    · Appropriate technologies for green development

    · Urban growth boundary control

Sub-Theme 6: Planning & Education

This track is organised in the following topics:

    · Role of planning education

    · New challenges to planning education

    · From theory to practice

    · International experience of planning education

    · Comparative studies on planning education


Paper Submission

Abstract Submission

· Content Requirement: title, 3-5 keywords, corresponding author’s names, affiliation, contact address, telephone, email address, one of the sub-themes of the conference

· Length: 300-500 English words

· Format: both doc. and pdf. documents

· Template: on the congress website

· Type of Submission: through Easychair website https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=apsa2017 

· Submission deadline: from now till March 15, 2017

· Notification of Acceptance: by March 31, 2017

Paper Submission

· Content Requirement: title, 3-5 keywords, corresponding author’s names, affiliation, contact address, telephone, email address, sub-theme of the conference etc

· Length: 3000-5000 English words

· Format: both doc. and pdf documents

· Template: on the congress website

· Type of Submission: through Easychair website https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=apsa2017 

· Submission deadline: from April 1, 2017 till June 30, 2017

· Notification of Acceptance: by July 31, 2017.

Registration

Early bird registration will start on March 31th and end on July 30th

Ordinary registration will end on August 31th
