埃利亚松这组名为《照片中的冰岛(The Ice Series)》的彩色照片系列均在冰岛拍摄取景。每组照片都聚焦于特定位置的一种物体,如火山、温泉和荒野中孤立的小屋,但当放在一起看时,这些作品则一起描述了更为广泛的主题。
大自然是在不断变化的过程中显现出来的。当图片并排悬挂时,光、形状和颜色会出现微妙变化,并且此时,单个图像的细节会自动让位于作品整体的抽象。埃利亚松作为艺术家的任务不仅仅是记录下大自然的细枝末节,更在于培养超越主题的更为完整的视觉体验。

“色彩实验画”Colour Experiments埃利亚松近期于冰岛i8画廊呈现的个展《超越人类时间(Beyond Human Time)》汇集了艺术家最新的关于「融化的冰川」纸上水彩作品。自2009年以来,埃利亚松就一直使用水彩媒介来研究色彩、运动和时间,这些作品通常产自他高度细致和物理化的创作过程,即在单张水彩纸上重复使用稀薄而透明的洗涤液,从而使画面最终产生出细微的空间和光线错觉。
与展览同名的作品使用古代冰川的冰块制作而成,这些冰块是在2014年制作格陵兰岛的大型装置《冰表(Ice Watch)》的过程中从格陵兰岛沿海海域打捞上来的(*2014年至2018年间,埃利亚松曾三度与地质学家Minik Rosing合作,将格陵兰大冰块在欧洲各地的公共空间融化,以提高人们对气候变化影响的认识并由此采取保护行动)。埃利亚松将这些冰块中的小碎块放在薄薄的彩色洗涤物上,厚纸片上的冰块逐渐融化并将色素缓慢推开,产生出有机的膨胀和褪色纹理。来自大自然的“水彩笔”通过极其自然的融化现象创作了这一系列作品,而缓慢的制作过程相对于冰川在大自然中实际融化的千年时间则又仅仅是短暂一瞬。

除此外,埃利亚松的水彩系列还有七件名为《太阳的短期记忆(Solar Short-term Memory)》和较小的《圆形手舞的空隙(Circular Hand Dance Voids)》,形式采用了“中心发散”的光谱余晕效果以及柔和堆叠的移动画法。通过与观众的生理视觉性产生视网膜补色、错觉及模糊印象等互动,探讨“空隙(voids)”和“固体(solids)”之间、白纸与颜料之间的关系和密语。展览 | Exhibitions Review

在刚刚过去的六月,日本东京现代美术馆重新对外开放,并带来了埃利亚松近十年内第一次在日本特展——Sometimes the river is the bridge。他通过艺术促进可持续发展的努力一直受到业内外的高度评价,而这次展览名称就是他的思考。埃利亚森在开幕式上说到, “有时候河就是桥梁,是观念上根本的转变让我们能够看到原来那些不明显、无形的事物。现在地球环境濒临崩溃的边缘,我们迫切需要重新构思我们生活的系统,以重新构建未来。为此,我们应当从根本上重新考虑我们如何看待一切,如何感知一切。到现在为止,我们根据过去建造了现在,而现在我们需要根据未来的需求来改变当下的行为。我相信我的作品给人以真实的感官震撼,往往比说教更直接有效。” 他对可再生能源和气候变化的兴趣和研究构成了本次展览的主要组成部分。

自2003年声名大噪的“天气计划”后,埃利亚松再次跟泰特合作一场颠覆感官的回顾展,展览内部设计成一系列埃利亚松探索社会和环境的深度互动区域。观众可以自由循迹艺术家对气候变化,能源,移民以及建筑等问题的剖析和呈现。有些艺术品将自然现象(例如彩虹)引入画廊空间,有些则使用反射和阴影来激发我们感知与外部环境的交汇。许多作品都基于艺术家对复杂的几何形状、运动模式及其对色彩理论的兴趣进行研究的成果。除了其中一件作品,其他作品在英国从未展出过。更有意思的是,埃利亚松工作室的厨房团队为泰特的Terrace Bar现场制作了特别菜单和举行了相关系列活动,该菜单基于柏林的有机素食和当地食材,给观众在视觉体验的基础上增加了味蕾上的全面体验。
