[China]Yao Hui
To Akhmatova (and other three poems)
Sufferings do not need defence.
Don’t sufferings need defence? Soldiers nearby
Made frozen bayonets emit radiance once again
The winter is always vast-Your shadow
Is more bent than sufferings—
Yet your soul is erect
With light of fire...the heavy snow locks the prison
To be darker-In which moment
Will you-miss your husband-son
-And brother as craggy as a bone?
Sufferings do not need curse
Don’t sufferings need curse? A daughter
Of the snow is-simultaneously a daughter
Of the sun-Flowers blossoming from thorns
Are like dream words
The wind will be turned fierce
Sufferings do not need salvation...
Morning
The power of fog is not to cover-but to leave
Footprints-in some proper place
Or-kinds of gasps with shadows interlaced
The star is retreating-it has occupied the vastness
For too long a time-How many dreamworlds has it passed?
You are the very one who often cry in dreams
You have humble love-You have crinkly tiredness
Of the verge of a nickle coin-You have kindness
And salvation a bit higher than the whole time—
The snow stopped in the wind direction is still shining
It is the snow in which the last kind of star is hidden
The east is veiled by the dense fog-and then-reveals
The cautions left on our bones
The wind slanting-the dawn darkening
A few birds-pecking that wet banner
Sides of Mountains
Nail the setting sun on the cliff
The wind is the look of ancestors
The wind is bright red
The wind-is wings
Of the setting sun
A child is carving wind sound on the gable wall
The stone has flown by
The child is the first setting sun
Neighing-He
Will be neighing for a whole night
In rays of light that he himself will grip and break
If the bird dies
It will be the dreamland
That mountains cannot bury
Stone Statue
Having stood for a long time-the sweat
Of the stone statue begins to become black—
The sky propped up by the statue is lower than a history book
Lower than the trembling hands that tightly hold crosier
Some souls are crying
And forming-the steepest sky color
All hardships and happiness are originated from dreamland-The statue
Grinds the time-the starry sky and love of the dead
---his face-represents all faces
You touched the stone-in the secret of statue
You pained-the gilded prayer of the time
If the stone is willing-let the statue collapse
Let the stone reveal its intrinsic pride
Let the stone-find back the courage burning 1000 years ago
Having stood for a long time-the soul
Of the stone statue begins to be chapping...
