[Chongqing]Jiang Yimao

I Yearn for Her Winter (and other five poems)

Nantian Lake is nestled amid the mountains to the south of Fengdu

In the sizzling summer

Tourists flood there like the tide

The blue and serene lake surface

Mirrors all that is higher around it

Showing no displeasure to the people

Who differ greatly in appearances

And even more so in mindsets

But I yearn for her winter

When snowflakes flutter over the mountains and the tranquil lake

Winds blow piercingly with people rarely in sight

The lake is left free to receive flying snow

As if immersed in self-cultivation

The bare mountain trees, the withered grass around

Are all sketched in the mirror of the lake

Through the thin ice

I see a heart being washed and iced beneath it

Time and Tide

The knife forged by time and tide

Serve not only to kill pigs

But also to plough, to break water and to prune trees

It anatomizes whatever in the world

Winds, snow, thunders and lightning remove the rust

Sunshine, rains and dewdrops moisten the blade

It scrapes off the illness rooted in the depths

Carving the expectations embodying deity

The skillful wielding of the knife

Memories stored by Heaven

The chart of all beings

All go through the ebb and flow of the river of time

The Blooming Season

In the feast of a riot of colors

You are intoxicated

Your face crimson, your eyes wide open

The presence and hubbub of the bees and butterflies

You ignore the shadows of winds

And the clouds floating with grace

In rustling winds and pattering rains, flower petals flutter

Is it leisurely depiction or predestination

The blossoms seem to be morphing into butterflies

Pursuing their dreams

A ground of pink and white, so obscure

Yearning in the long night for a new life

Dusk Standing by the Window

The roaring waves

Gradually die out towards the skyline

The twenty-first floor

Boasts a view of half of the new city

The light kneaded into pieces by the setting sun

Spreads on the straight spine

And the ribs of different lengths

A film of golden glory

A few gray birds

Fly between the ribs

Flipping their wings at a set tempo

Their flight, now high now low

Is inscribing confusion on the spine

The trees threading along the roads

Fail to find the nests built by themselves

Gazing at the paling dark clouds

The vast forest seems to be suddenly expanding

Through the lattice, the fresh breeze grabs my hair

Making me instantly feel so void inside

That my weight seems reduced

To that of a grain of sand in the wall

Worries

Don’t worry

That lingering fog will shroud the ridge

The benevolence of the sun

Will embrace it

The long robe of the wind

Will wrap it into the very image of the wind

I worry about the ditches assailed by the rainstorm

Mud and sand will flee to the depths

Crowding at the window of the stream

Those who come to dredge

Cannot reach the window lattice

The flooding stream

Will inundate the virtuous nature like water

Disperse the Lonesome Wrinkles

The night sky is in a stupor

The Moon opens only one eye

Each star has taken its position

Ready for the inspection of the floating clouds

The star closest to the top of the building

Seems to be unsociable

A childish nightingale

Is hovering over the top of the evergreen

A kind soul

Forges a switch with love

The stars and the eyes gaze at each other

The song of the nightingale

Is getting louder and even more touching

Fresh breezes rise from the canyon

To disperse the lonesome wrinkles of the stars
