Biondo Aprile (e altre tre poesie)
O biondo aprile,
e chi ti disse ch’ero innamorato
di Martellina?
Portato hai le viole
per i suoi capelli biondi,
le rose per il suo seno
e molli tappeti di margherite
per i suoi piedi di fata.
Ma gli anni son passati
e la sua bocca odora
del tabacco di mille drudi
e le sue gambe hanno il brio
delle danze sfrenate.
Pure vivo ancora di ricordi,
vivo di sogni. Oh, la sua bocca
come un garofano rosso,
le sue mani di fata,
i suoi capelli biondi,
biondo aprile!
Sinfonia D’insetti
Maggio entra nelle vene
con il profumo delle campanule.
Nuova luce - e che luce! - arde
nei tuoi occhi di conchiglia.
Vorrei narrarti in questa
sinfonia d’insetti
com’è profonda la malinconia
che mi affatica; vorrei dirti
che t’amo come quando...
e rifioriva Cleome spinosa!...
Ritorna, io non ti so scordare.
Giugno di Sole e di Piacere
Giugno è fatto di sole e di piacere,
di sole e di piacere è la tua carne;
e profumi racchiude l’arco
di tua vita. Tu vivi un’altra vita.
Tu ti dissolvi in altri incantamenti.
e t’innamora. Tu vivi un’altra vita
sconosciuta forse anche al mio canto.

Golden April (and other three poems)
Oh, Golden April,
and who told you that I was in love
with Marcellina?
You brought violets
for her golden hair,
roses for her breast
and soft carpets of daisies
for her fairy-like feet.
But years have passed
and her mouth now reeks
of tobacco of a thousand men
and her legs have the lively sway
of the wildest dances.
And yet I live of memories,
I live of dreams. Oh, her mouth
like a red carnation,
her fairy-like hands,
her golden hair,
Golden April!
A Symphony of Insects
May enters in your veins
with the fragrance of bluebells.
New light - and what light! - Glows
in your shell-like eyes.
I would like to tell you, in this
symphony of insects,
how deep is the sadness
that wearies me; I would like to tell you
that I love you as much as when...
and the thorny cleome was again in bloom!...
Now that you are flowing on the arc of my dreams
to awaken the passion,
just as long ago, May
becomes sweeter, more tearful.
Come back, I can’t forget you.
June of Sun and Pleasure
June is made of sun and pleasure,
of sun and pleasure is your flesh;
I want you so I can live of love and pleasure
and of moondrops, of pure eagerness, and of sorrows...
Oh no, don’t tell me that the day is over,
that you no longer have your soft, lively hands...
The night is still filled with stars,
and the voluptuous fruits of pleasure are
bursting red on the pomegranate tree...
On the fireflies’ embroidered meadow
the corn is golden like your golden hair...
Another Life
And your fragrance is like the ferns, love,
which have a flavor of freshness,
like ripe hay,
like the limpid stream in the forest
Adorned with moss and violets
now that July thrills
and stuns you with his fire.
Perhaps you don’t know or understand these sweet smells
of the fields, you can't hear this symphony
of insects; you live
on the Strait1 in which magic is reflected
and foreign is my song; the arc of your life
encloses other sounds and fragrances.
You live another life.
You are dissolving in other magics.
Your butterfly’s heart is nourishing other memories and dreams.
And so, the hot summer dissolves
this sad love song of mine,
divine July that caresses you
and seduces you. You live another life
perhaps unknown even to my song.

六月是阳光和欢乐组成的;
也听不见昆虫们的交响;
