妈妈，这些问题都没有想清楚，你让我谈什么未来？
已过去好几个月了，我仍然记得那次尴尬的谈话。
孩子是我很熟悉的孩子，很早就来江博了，从新概念到托福到SAT，然后就慢慢成长为经常被拿来作为标杆的“别人家的孩子了“， 初二托福就考出100+， 初三SAT考出了2050，一时轰动无俩。
但是让我一直很骄傲的是她一直本色不改，仍然是那个很淡然，很安静的一个孩子，即使是获得当年江博SAT校长特别奖，也不肯多说一句话。但是这个爱读书的孩子啊，一直坚持着读书和思考，然后就出国读高中了，每年回国都会来江博读书会讲一本书，我还是从她那儿得知了《巴尔扎克和小裁缝》竟然是美高很多学校的教科书。也是她来主讲了一期电影俱乐部后，我对《千钧一发》产生兴趣了。我还得知她对英语诗歌产生了兴趣，自己办了个读诗的微信公众号，我也听到她跨时空的声音了。
一直到这时候，她每次回国都会来找我聊聊天，聊聊上过的课，读过的书，遇到的人。总有话题，总能聊得很热烈，彼此也都有收获。
直到这次见面。
一到银海，一进我的办公室就嘟着嘴，坐我对面，但是基本侧坐着，一直看着自己的妈妈。
然后我们就开始谈起来现在Junior年级了，该聊聊标化，文书和活动了，说起来她这次要去意大利学拉丁语。从来没有学过拉丁语，从来没有去过意大利。
小姑娘回答的断断续续，心不在焉，颠颠倒倒，然后，突然，突然，突然，她爆发了，对着妈妈大声说：
为什么总跟我说标化？
为什么总跟我强调课外活动？
为什么做任何事情都要有目的？
喜欢不能是一个理由么？
再说，我早跟你说过了，我现在连“我是谁”“我到底喜欢什么”都没有搞清楚，不想去想其他问题！ 这两个问题是我目前首先要解决的问题。
她看着自己的妈妈，眼神里面含着一种湿湿的幽怨，她妈妈看着我，笑容里面有一种干干的歉意。
我当时就沉默了。有种莫名的挫败感，因为没有feel到这个孩子的pulse。
Oscar从教几十年，碰过各种性格的孩子，上大学的时候，每周几乎所有的晚上都在外面代课，还颇受孩子欢迎，甚至有家长和孩子无法对话时候，专门开车把孩子送到我的大学，让我陪着孩子在操场上遛弯，顺带疏导心情，情绪和烦恼。可是从来没有碰到这么尴尬的场景。
我的沉默还有个原因是：幸福来的太快-这么快就能见到一个把“存在的意义”作为第一思考的命题的弟子啦。
我一直都觉得十几岁的孩子有几个问题一定要贴在墙上，写在笔记本里，录在手机里面，随时问自己。
这些问题恰恰是绝大数美国大学录取文书的题目和要求，所以我顺带喜欢了美国大学的录取文书写作.
有人问我出国和不出国有什么区别？ 我说，就冲美国留学必须解决的那一堆文书题目，出国就值了。
在渴望或者拒绝成年前，有一个人不厌其烦的问你" Who are you?",“Why you?” " Why are you here?" "Why me?" , 你是有福的！
咱们仔细看看common essay的这几道题目吧，哪道题都不好写，尤其是第一道：
1.Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
难点1：活着的人是没有前景和背景之分的，哪里找出自己的background?
解决方案：backgroud= a : the conditions that form the setting within which something is experienced b (1) : the circumstances or events antecedent to a phenomenon or development (2) : information essential to understanding of a problem or situation c : the total of a person's experience, knowledge, and education
难点2：还有比思考自己的identity更狼狈，看起来更SB的事情么？难道不知道人类思考，上帝就发笑么？
解决方案：identity=2 a : the distinguishing character or personality of an individual : b : the relation established by psychological identification
难点3：talent么？如何定义？ 睡觉算么？ 刷题算么？能吃算么...
解决方案：talent= 4 a : a special often creative or artistic aptitude b : general intelligence or mental power
实际上这道题最大秘密是：that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it.

2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
5. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.
这就是为什么今天某同学跟我在第10稿终于搞定了主文书后，激动的直哆嗦，说，“我必须发一条朋友圈，实在太激动了”
是啊，我能理解，第十稿啊，鬼都知道他到底经历了什么...洪荒之力已用完。

回到那次尴尬的谈话现场，我们后来愉快的谈了两个小时。
