New schedule for exit-entry services in Shanghai

Exit-entry services in Shanghai won’t be available until February 3, or next Monday, authorities have announced.

Those who made reservations to file applications or collect exit-entry documents on January 31 and February 2 can go next week.

In cases of emergency, including the loss or damage of passports prior to travel, the exit-entry administration bureau has opened a green tunnel before February 3 to serve their needs, but applicants need to call 28951900 before going.

All people who go to the city’s exit-entry offices will have their temperatures checked at the door. Authorities advise people to wear masks.

For residents of the Chinese mainland, the national immigration bureau has suspended the issuance of entry permits to Hong Kong and Macau for tourism purposes. Those who have already obtained such permits are advised not to travel to Hong Kong or Macau for the time being.

The governments of Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions announced previously that all residents of Hubei Province — where the city of Wuhan, ground zero of the coronavirus outbreak, is located — will be denied entrance from January 27, as well as any person who had been to that province in the previous 14 days.

In the meantime, Hong Kong has suspended several of its exit-entry ports with the Chinese mainland and some transportation services connecting the mainland.
