Vaccines: Who Should Avoid Them?

I.

                     Allergies

Note:

When allergic to any vaccine, you are advised not to take COVID-19 vaccine shots. It’s likely that a few people are allergic to minor ingredients such as aluminum hydroxide, those are advised not to take shots.

Except for the aforementioned, other types of allergies won’t impact on COVID-19 vaccine.

II

                       Fever

Note:

Anybody who suffers from any kind of fever cannot take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Minor syndromes (such as cold) won’t affect it.

III

              Acute Diseases

Note:

Those who have acute diseases with fevers that do not often happen could make the decision (if they want to be vaccinated or not) based on the severity.

Those with severe symptoms that affect daily life shall not take the vaccine.

IV

            Chronic Disease

Note:

Chronic diseases that are being treated and not well controlled. For example, tumor patients before and after surgery, during chemoradiation therapy, or diabetic patients during diabetic ketoacidosis, hypertensive patients with hypertensive encephalopathy, and hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism with very unstable thyroxine are not suitable for COVID vaccination.

Stable chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, and thyroid disease with a history of tumor that does not require much treatment now and is well controlled by medication, can be vaccinated with the COVID vaccine. However, inactivated COVID vaccine and subunit COVID vaccine are recommended as a priority when there is a history of the tumor.

V

  Chronic Immunodeficiency Disease

Note:

Adenovirus vaccination is not recommended for people with malignant tumors, HIV infection, chronic kidney disease, and post-transplantation, who may have impaired immune function, but rather inactivated or subunit vaccines.

VI

        Special Neurological Disorders

Note:

Recent seizures and recent onset of Guillain-Barré syndrome are not eligible for vaccination. If the disease is well controlled and has been seizure-free for many years, you can also receive the COVID vaccine.

Since neurological diseases are relatively complex, please consult your local vaccination department in advance for your situation.

VII

              Females

Note:

Only pregnancy is currently contraindicated for females to receive the COVID vaccine. Although vaccination during pregnancy is not recommended, there is no need to terminate the pregnancy if the pregnancy is discovered only after vaccination.

VIII

              Just Vaccinated

Note:

Concurrent vaccination with other vaccines is not recommended at this time. The interval between vaccination with other vaccines and NIV vaccine should be more than 14 days.

When rabies vaccine, tetanus vaccine, or immunoglobulin is required for reasons such as animal injury or trauma, the interval between vaccination with the new coronavirus vaccine may be disregarded.

The medication will not affect the use of the COVID vaccine. Whether it affects the COVID  vaccination or not depends on the specific disease for which the medication is taken and whether the disease itself affects the COVID vaccine.

IX

Others

Note:

There are limited data from studies and vaccination is not recommended for people under 18 years of age at this stage.

Data on the effectiveness of the vaccine for people over 60 years of age are also limited, but preliminary clinical data suggest some help, so vaccination is also recommended for people over 60 years of age. However, if you are too old, you should also make a comprehensive judgment based on your basic health condition.

Mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety are not specific neurological disorders, and as long as they are not serious conditions that significantly affect life, they should also be vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine as early as possible.
