•在本期的节目中，我们选取了“中国－东盟媒体高峰论坛上的开幕致辞”中的部分经典段落来继续探索汉译英的笔记以及一些翻译的要领。

•汉语的笔记中，一定要学会简化，一个意群怎么去记取决于记什么最方便，看上去可以一目了然。可以记汉字，但是不能记太复杂的汉字，更不可以用两个汉字记一个概念。如果汉字太复杂可以选择记汉字的偏旁，例如“挑战”和“措施”都可以记汉字的提手旁“扌”；“新”可以记“斤”这个偏旁。如果偏旁不足以一目了然，也可以记汉语拼音，例如“民族”就可以记“zú”。常用的概念，例如“承诺”可以记“CN”；“责任”可以记“ZR”；“战略”可以记“ZL”。有一些词可以选择用英文首字母去记，例如“要求”可以记“rq”。还有一些常用的则是用符号记更一目了然，例如“关系、联系”的符号“∞”，“持续、继续”的波浪线符号“~~~~”等等。

•汉译英的翻译当中有一些汉语词不用翻译成英文，有一些意义差不多的同类项也可以进行合并。例如：“高度契合，可谓正逢其时”意义中有重复的部分，所以可以进行同类项合并，直接翻译成“be highly relevant to”； “修路架桥的硬联通”中的“修路修桥”完全不用记，我们要理解这个硬联通指的是“基础设施建设”，因此只需要记“基础”的笔记符号（横线上面一个点）。

    今天论坛的主题是“数字时代：加强媒体联结、共创美好未来”，与中国—东盟媒体交流年和今年东盟“推动可持续发展的伙伴关系”的主题高度契合，可谓正逢其时。我想结合今天主题中的三个关键词谈谈自己的看法。

    The theme of today’s forum “Connected for a Better Future in the Digital Age” is highly relevant to the ASEAN-China Year of Media Exchanges and dovetails the theme of ASEAN this year. I wish to share with you my thoughts on three key words of today’s theme.

    一是“数字时代”的新挑战。在“数字时代”媒体脉动明显加快，海量信息以超乎想像的速度在全球流动。这总体有利于促进各国间加深相互理解，但也导致矛盾摩擦乃至冲突碰撞的一面有所凸显，个别人趁机将“文明冲突论”摆上桌面。

    First, “digital age”, which sets an overall backdrop for the new challenges as we encounter today. This is an age of unimaginable amount of data flowing across the globe at an ever-increasing speed, which, on the whole, has facilitated better mutual understanding among countries. However, it has also made discords spread faster and loom larger. A case in point is the fallacy of so-called “clash of civilizations”.

    在此背景下，媒体肩负着传递正能量的重要使命。习近平主席在今年2月致中国—东盟媒体交流年开幕式的贺信中提出，希望中国、东盟双方媒体做友好交往的传播者、务实合作的推动者、和谐共处的守望者，讲好共促和平、共谋发展的故事。这为中国和东盟媒体的发展与合作指明了方向和目标。

     As Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter to the opening of the Media Exchanges Year, Chinese and ASEAN media could serve as messengers of exchanges, facilitators of cooperation, guardians of harmonious coexistence and good story-tellers on peace and common development. This has set a goal and charted the course for development and cooperation between Chinese and ASEAN media.

    二是“加强联结”的新要求。在全球化的今天，世界各国联系愈发紧密。基于多边主义共识的“联通”成为国际合作和东亚合作平台上的热词。我们强调的“联通”不仅是修路架桥的硬联通，更是物理、信息、人员三位一体的大联通，这也是“一带一路”倡议和东盟共同体建设共同秉持的理念和要义。

    Second, “stronger connectivity”, which is our new undertaking. As globalization connects countries more closely than ever before, “connectivity”, a word born with multilateral consensus, has become catchy on East Asian and international cooperation platforms. It goes beyond hard connectivity of infrastructure and is essentially about greater connectivity of things, information and people. This is what the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN community building strive for.

    三是“共创未来”的新使命。中国和东盟国家山水相连、人文相通，友好交往源远流长。近年来，双方加强战略沟通，共建“一带一路”，深化人文交流，妥善处理分歧，维护地区稳定。中国－东盟关系已进入全方位发展的新阶段，这为双方媒体合作开辟了更广阔前景，提出了更高要求。

    Third, “a better future”, which is our shared vision. China and ASEAN countries, as close neighbors linked by waters and cultures, enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges. Recent years have witnessed our concerted efforts to enhance strategic communication, strengthen Belt and Road partnership and bring our peoples closer. We properly handle differences, as part of our efforts to cement regional stability. Today, ASEAN-China relations have entered a new phase of all-around development, providing media cooperation with broader prospects yet also with heavier responsibility.

    当前，国际变局中的不确定性、不稳定因素增多，单边主义、保护主义肆虐，“文明冲突论”、“种族优越论”沉渣泛起。在此背景下，中国—东盟关系依然展现出强大生机与活力。这很大程度上得益于我们顺应时代潮流和发展大势，致力于促进文明交流互鉴、深化互利合作，妥善应对“数字时代”的新挑战。

    Uncertainties and destabilizing factors abound in our world today. Unilateralism and protectionism are running rampant, and call of “clash of civilizations” and “racial superiority” is raising its ugly head. Despite all this, ASEAN-China relationship remains intact and is growing with ever-more vitality, which I believe is attributable to the fact that we embrace the trend of the times and address the challenges of digital age properly by committing ourselves to mutual learning across civilizations and deepening cooperation.
