November 25-27: The Tale of Lear by Kichijoji Theatre



The drama The Tale of Lear, directed by Japanese theater director Tadashi Suzuki, is based on Shakespeare’s King Lear, a heart-breaking story about an aged king’s decision to divide his kingdom between his three daughters. Founder of the Suzuki Company of Toga, the organizer of Toga Festival (Japan’s first international theater festival), Suzuki has directed several international collaborations besides those produced by SCOT, including The Tale of Lear, which is co-produced by four other theaters from the US. Come to No. 13 Theater and check out this brilliantly directed drama. The show will be performed in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

November 26-27: Charity for Orphans and Elderly in Panyu



Have a stack of clothes or toys at home that are just gathering dust? Why not do something good with it and donate it this weekend at Hell’s Heros charity event in Panyu. Participants are welcome to donate clothes, snacks, toys, books and cash, and all proceeds will go to helping orphans and the elderly. There will be a BBQ, as well as live music and a dance performance to keep attendees entertained!

November 26-27: The Taming of the Shrew by TNT Theatre Britain



One of Shakespeare’s most famous comedies, The Taming of the Shrew tackles serious topics like the relation of men and women and money and love in a humorous way. TNT Theatre is faithful to the original play, reproducing classic Shakespearean dialogues, innocuous erotic jokes and English humor. While many other theaters have tried to weaken the chauvinism depicted in the original play, TNT Theatre’s director tries instead to depict the different ways the play has been performed over the years.

November 27: Piano Duet 



This concert brings together two musical talents: Lithuanian pianist Gintaute Gataveckaite – a regular of international competitions – and Australian pianist Tristan Lee, who is widely sought as a chamber musician. Gataveckaite is highly dedicated to performing contemporary music, while Lee also has a distinct approach to the genre. The duet will perform Schubert, Ravel, Brahms and Tchaikovsky.

November 27: Tamas Wells




Australian singer and composer Tamas Wells is coming to Shenzhen again, performing at B10 Live this week. Possibly best known for the song ‘Valder Fields,’ Wells has steadily built a fan base in China. Wells is known for his subdued yet clear singing style and the use of a traditional Burmese banjo in some of his songs.
