学生们(xuéshēngmen)不再(búzài)为(wéi)选(xuǎn)专业(zhuānyè)而(ér)忐忑不安(tǎntèbùān)：湖北省(húběishěng)的(de)一(yī)所(suǒ)职业学校(zhíyèxuéxiào)开设(kāishè)了(le)国内(guónèi)首(shǒu)个(gè)“小(xiǎo)龙(lóng)虾(xiā)”专业(zhuānyè)，以(yǐ)培训(péixùn)这(zhè)项(xiàng)当地(dāngdì)最(zuì)重要(zhòngyào)的(de)产(chǎn)业(yè)。

Students feeling the pinch to declare a majorlook no further: A vocationalschool in Hubei Province is now offering thecountry’s first degree in "crayfish studies" to train students in an important local industry.

潜(qián)江(jiāng)市(shì)江汉(jiānghàn)艺术(yìshù)职业(zhíyè)学院(xuéyuàn)“龙(lóng)虾(xiā)学(xué)院(yuàn)”目前(mùqián)已(yǐ)招收(zhāoshōu)了(le)86名(míng)学生(xuéshēng)，进行(jìnxíng)三(sān)个(gè)龙虾(lóngxiā)相关(xiāngguān)的(de)课程(kèchéng)学习(xuéxí)，据(jù)《新(xīn)京(jīng)报(bào)》报道(bàodào)。

Jianghan Art Vocational College’s"School of Crawfish" in Qianjiang has so far enrolled 86 students for threecrawfish-related courses, the Beijing News reported Wednesday.

从(cóng)9月(yuè)1日(rì)开始(kāishǐ)，这(zhè)项(xiàng)为期(wéiqī)两年(liǎngnián)的(de)项目(xiàngmù)承诺(chéngnuò)进行(jìnxíng)小(xiǎo)龙虾(lóngxiā)养殖(yǎngzhí)、烹饪(pēngrèn)、市场(shìchǎng)营销(yíngxiāo)和(hé)餐饮(cānyǐn)管理(guǎnlǐ)方面(fāngmiàn)的(de)职业(zhíyè)培训(péixùn)以及(yǐjí)就业(jiùyè)的(de)安(ān)置(zhì)。

Starting September 1, the two-year programspromise coursework in crawfish farming, cooking, marketing and catering management, as well as job placement.

学校(xuéxiào)招生(zhāoshēng)部(bù)工作人员(gōngzuòrényuán)夏(xià)忠(zhōng)志(zhì)告诉(gàosù)记者(jìzhě)，“小(xiǎo)龙虾(lóngxiā)产业(chǎnyè)价值(jiàzhí)数十亿(shùshíyì)……，但是(dànshì)至今(zhìjīn)还(hái)没有(méiyǒu)一家(yìjiā)专业(zhuānyè)从事(cóngshì)培训(péixùn)的(de)机构(jīgòu)。”

"The crawfish industry is ... worthbillions of yuan, but we are yet to see an institution specializing intraining," Xia Zhongzhi, a recruitment officer at the college, told thepaper.

The majordidn’t seem to make the grade among netizens."The students will soon regret their decision," wrote Sina Weibo user"minzhugg."

国家(guójiā)教育(jiàoyù)科学研究(kēxuéyánjiū)院(yuàn)研究员(yánjiūyuán)朱兆辉(zhūzhàohuī)也(yě)赞同(zàntóng)这个(zhège)观点(guāndiǎn)，他(tā)接受(jiēshòu)采访(cǎifǎng)时(shí)说(shuō)，“在(zài)开设(kāishè)这个(zhège)新(xīn)专业(zhuānyè)前(qián)，我们(wǒmen)应当(yīngdāng)详细(xiángxì)评估(pínggū)它(tā)对(duì)于(yú)这(zhè)个(ge)产(chǎn)业(yè)来(lái)说(shuō)是(shì)否(fǒu)必(bì)要(yào)。”

The sentiment was echoed by Chu Zhaohui, aresearcher at the National Institute of Education Sciences. "We need to evaluate carefully whether it’s necessary for theindustry before creating a new major," Chu told the newspaper.

财(cái)新(xīn)网(wǎng)报道(bàodào)，据(jù)农业部(nóngyèbù)6月份(yuèfèn)公布(gōngbù)的(de)数据(shùjù)，小(xiǎo)龙虾(lóngxiā)产业(chǎnyè)当前(dāngqián)价值(jiàzhí)约(yuē)为(wéi)1466亿(yì)元(yuán)（约(yuē)合(hé)215.8亿(yì)美元(měiyuán)），为(wéi)500万(wàn)人(rén)提(tí)供(gòng)了(le)就(jiù)业(yè)岗(gǎng)位(wèi)。

Valued at 146.6 billion yuan ($21.58billion), the industry employs over 5 million people, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture released in June, Caixin reported.
