How to transfer your work permit to a new employer

You have been working legally in China for some time with valid work permit and residence permit. What if you want a new job or you are laid-off and have to find a new gig out of necessity? If so, there is no need to apply for a new work permit just like your first time to do that. But it's a much easier way to transfer your present work permit to your new employer. As follows is the guidance on how transferring your present work permit works.
The following process is applied to your residence permit is still in valid and you are to do the same position as what you do in the previous employer.
Note:
it isn’t your working visa or residence permit but your work permit that is transferred
The following documents are needed, but sometimes they varies in different cities of China and your own situation.
1、外国人来华工作申请许可表（应包括有具体时间段的教育背景、有具体时间段的工作经历、境外联系地址、境外电话、电子邮件地址）复印件及电子版
Copies of the resume (CV)bothin English and Chinese,please specifythe period of the education background, working experience into exact MONTH. And please also note overseas permanent address, overseas telephone no., and email address on the resume (CV).

2、最高学历证书及学历认证材料复印件及其翻译件（A类专家可采用承诺制无需提供认证材料）
此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版，不超过2M。若文件过大，可以分开扫描。
Copies of the highest degree certificate(diploma) and its Authentication（notarized by Chinese Embassy or Consulate）, and its Chinese translation.
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
3、个人证件照（及随行家属证件照）6张及电子版（相片规格不低于354（宽）*472（高）像素，不大于420（宽）*560（高）像素，JPG格式，超过200K）
Hard copies of thepassport photo (6 pieces) ,Digital copy of your passport photoand those of your accompanying family members, white background.
4、工作资历证明 复印件及其翻译件.此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版
Copies of Work Certificate signed by the former employer, including working period, work position, and its Chinese translation.
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
5、离职证明原件 、复印件2份. 此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版
Original document of Release Letter
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
6、外国人工作许可证/专家证/就业证注销单原件（已过期的无需提供）
此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版
Original document of cancellation of former foreign expert certificate/work certificate
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
7、中英文工作合同 复印件2份
合同需明确工作地点、工作职责、工作时长、薪资待遇等具体内容不得涂改，需双方签字并加盖聘用单位公章。此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版，不超过1M。若文件过大，可以分开扫描。
Copies of the contract with Fujian Agriculture and Forest University both in Chinese and English version. Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
8、《境外人员临时住宿登记表》原件、复印件
此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版。
Copies of theRegistration Form of Temporary Residence
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
9、无犯罪记录证明及认证材料（A类人才可采用无犯罪承诺函）
此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版，不超过2M。若文件过大，可以分开扫描。
Copies of thenon-criminal certificate notarized by Chinese Embassy or Consulate and its Chinese translation.
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
10、个人及随行家属护照首页、居留许可页、最新入境页复印件及电子版
此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版，不超过1M。若文件过大，可以分开扫描。
Copies of the Front Page,residence permit page and entry page of the passport (including any accompanying family member’s passport)
Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
11、若有随行家属，需提供中国驻外使领馆认证的家属关系证明原件、复印件及电子版. 此项材料的彩色扫描件PDF版，不超过1M。若文件过大，可以分开扫描。
Copies of official document notarized by Chinese Embassy or Consulate which could prove the family relationship.Colorful scanned copy (PDF or JPG format ) of above documents and each document should be no larger than 1M.
NOT APPLICABLE to those who don’t have accompanying family members this time.
Summary
Transferring your work permit over to a new employer is a relatively easy process. Often everything is handled by your previous and new employer.
