China cleared all COVID-19 medium and high risk areas on Monday, after hard-hit Gaocheng district in Shijiazhuang city, Hebei Province, and the last COVID-19 medium risk zone in Northeast China's Heilongjiang were both downgraded to low risk on the same day.
China's
mainland Monday reported no local COVID-19 infections and 11 imported
COVID-19 cases, according to the National Health Commission. On February
18, all high-risk areas in China were now cleared as the traditional
Spring Festival came to an end, and no surge in infections was reported
during the seven-day holiday.
Shijiazhuang city authorities on
Sunday declared that all areas in Gaocheng district, where cluster
infections were reported in the recent flare-up, will be adjusted to
low-risk from Monday. The bus service in the district will resume to
normalcy as well.
Starting from Monday, Shijiazhuang city will
gradually resume inter-provincial and inter-city long-distance bus lines
and chartered buses. Operations of catering venues, public cultural
facilities, indoor and outdoor sports venues across the city will also
be resumed from the same day in an orderly manner, the authority said.
After
seeing COVID-19 flare-ups in January and being put into a lockdown to
curb the infections, the city started to resume social activities and
production on January 29 as the epidemic was contained.
On
February 8, two days ahead of the Spring Festival, Shijiazhuang resumed
its train services. Metro lines in the city also restarted on February
19.
