The renowed historian had an exciting adventure when he was a little boy.
One day, he was playing hide and seek with his friends.
“Everyone’s ready? I’m coming to find you!”
One of his friends quietly climed onto a rockery. A huge clay pot filled with water stood right next to the rocks.
“Yeah…Nobody can catch me here…oh no!”
The little boy accidentally fell into the giant clay pot. All the other playmates panicked. Some ran to find a grown=up, some yelled.
“Oh my goodness! Someone fell into the pot!”
“Help, Help!”
Sima Guang quickly ran behind the rockery and climbed up to the edge of the water jar, trying to reach his friend. But his arms were not long enough.
Everyone was frightened and worried, not knowing what to do. Some just sat on the ground and started crying.
A big rock on the ground caught Sima Guang’s eyes. Suddenly, he came up with an iidea.
He ran over and gathered all his strength to lift the rock. Holding the rock in his arms, he smashed it against the side of pot.
“Hang on, I’m coming!”
The pot broke, and the water flloded out.
The boy who fell into the pot was saved.
News about this adventure spread quickly. Everybody thought that what Sima Guang did was really amazing-instead of panicking in an emergency, he stayed calm and worked out a clever solution that saved his friend’s life.
