本句型是典型的推荐信的开头句型。其中，recommend意为“推荐；建议”。

如：

The doctor strongly recommended that he take aholiday.医生竭力劝他去休假。

本句型也可以将recommend替换为suggest，应用于回复询问信件的开头。此外，类似的还有邀请信的开头句型Iam writing to invite you to...。其中to后面应当接动词原形所引导的动宾短语等。如：come to my birthday party（来参加我的生日宴会）、join the English Club（加入英语俱乐部）等。
