Open rank scientist Position:

Molecular Biologist, virus biology and / or oligonucleotide technology

Key areas of responsibility:

The successful candidate will work in discovery biology group, and drive the technology development on either viral vector-based gene delivery or oligonucleotides-based gene knockdown to support novel target discovery, validation and early pipeline progress in the disease areas of diabetes, obesity, CVD and NASH.

For virus biology focus, you will be responsible for viral vector optimization to improve both payload expression efficiency and tissue-targeting delivery efficiency. For oligonucleotide technology focus, you will be responsible for optimizing the in vitro and in vivo screening workflow to identify potent siRNA / ASO compounds with minimized off-target effects.

You will be a key person in research projects, where you are expected to contribute and seek influence based on the data you generate and by keeping up to date with the scientific literature. Your main internal contacts in your daily work will be scientist colleagues, research associates, project members, and managers both in Beijing and global. You will be expected to leverage the innovation culture, mentor colleagues, and promote the collaboration culture across  research organizations globally. Furthermore, developing and maintaining a strong external network is also going to be an important part of your work.

Qualifications:

· Ph.D. in biology, medicine or chemistry, or a relevant scientific discipline

· Extensive experience and in-depth understanding of either virus biology (e.g. adeno-associated virus, adenovirous or lentivirus) or oligonucleotide technology (e.g. siRNA, antisense oligo, microRNA)  

· Minimum 2-3 years of postdoctoral training or equivalent industrial experience is preferred

· Hands-on experience and biology understanding in one or more of the following disease areas is a strong plus: diabetes, obesity, CVD and NASH

· Excellent track records of innovation, independence and scientific accomplishments of high value

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills

· Fluent in English
