吉塞普·佩诺内（Giuseppe Penone）出生于意大利加瑞西奥（Garessio），目前生活、工作于巴黎和都灵。他的艺术生涯始于意大利的贫穷艺术运动（Arte Povera Movement），包括佩诺内在内的这群激进的艺术家使用“贫穷的”、非常规的元素和原材料来质疑文化假设，唤起前工业时代的感知，批判工业化和机械化的非人化体系，以及同时代的艺术运动。

作为贫穷艺术的领军人物，佩诺内探索了呼吸作用、生长和衰老——以及其他被动的生命过程——他创造了一个广阔的作品体系，其中包含了雕塑、表演、纸上作品和摄影。他的作品在世界各地不断展出，并被众多重要艺术机构收藏，包括了洛杉矶当代艺术美术馆、纽约大都会博物馆、纽约现代艺术美术馆、伦敦泰特美术馆、巴黎蓬皮杜艺术中心和卢浮宫阿布扎比。

2019年10月至2020年10月，高古轩联合金门国家公园保护协会（the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy）与金门国家游憩区（the Golden Gate National Recreation Area）呈现公共艺术项目“公园中的艺术”（the Art in the Parks program）。在为期一年的时间里，吉塞普·佩诺内的两件雕塑作品——《植物的逻辑》（The Logic of the Vegetal）和《石头的理念》（Ideas of Stone）将持续在旧金山的历史景点梅肯堡会展中心（Fort Mason）的户外草甸区域（the Great Meadow）展出。
