Live Update | Quarantine rules in cities across China

China has imposed stricter screening and quarantine measures on travelers entering the border through flights, trains, ships, and roads as coronavirus cases soared around the world.


Below AnyHelper has gathered the latest arrival steps/info for those who will be entering China recently.


ALERT: People infected with quarantinable infectious diseases or suspected epidemic victims who refuse to receive isolated observation or fail to truthfully fill out their health declaration forms at border checkpoints, such as international airports, in China, could face criminal penalties.


NOTICE: Policies and measures for arrivals are constantly changing according to situations abroad. AnyHelper is closely monitoring the latest government's announcements and will update you once the information becomes available.

Beijing


Quarantine


All travelers entering Beijing from overseas were required to be quarantined at designated sites for 14 days.


Exceptions

• People who are older than 70, minors and pregnant women can apply to do the quarantine at their own homes.

• Those who have diseases that prevent them from living in group quarantine and those who have separate houses in which there are no other people living can also apply for quarantine at home.

• People need to submit applications to the community where they live before entering Beijing. The community and health care staff will check and verify their applications and issue approvals to those who are qualified for home quarantine.

• Those who are quarantined at their own home can have one person to take care of their life if they need assistance.

Notices


1. All people entering the capital from overseas, including those entering Beijing from other points of entry and exit should be put on 14-day quarantine at designated facilities and expenses incurred will be paid by travelers themselves.

3. Those diagnosed with COVID-19 after returning from overseas have to pay their own treatment bills if they are not covered by either the country's medical insurance or commercial ones.



Shanghai


Quarantine


Travelers who have visited the following countries in the past 2 weeks will be subject to a 14-day quarantine on arrival in Shanghai.

  • Netherlands

Travelers from any of the above countries in the past 14 days entering Shanghai via other ports will also have to be quarantined at home or specified hotels and undergo epidemiological investigation.

Notices


1. Mandatory health registration required for all arrivals in Shanghai.


2. You might STILL be asked to quarantine even you’re not from virus-stricken countries/regions, deepening on the rules of each district, community, or your employer.


3. People arriving from key coronavirus-affected countries who are quarantined at designated sites need to cover accommodation and meal fees themselves. The accommodation charge is between 200 yuan (US$28) and 400 yuan per person daily.



Jiangsu


Quarantine


For arrivals (both Chinese and foreign nationals) who have visited the following countries in the past 2 weeks, a 14-day centralized medical observation is required. Those who are not suited for designated quarantine could apply for home observation.

Jiangsu-bound travelers entering China via Shanghai: Jiangsu has dispatched staff to the Pudong and Hongqiao airports around the clock to transport those who need to be quarantined.


Notices


1. All those that come/return to Jiangsu and work, study, live, travel or temporarily stay in Jiangsu need to apply for and use the Jiangsu Health Code. More info can be found HERE.

Zhejiang

Zhejiang-bound travelers entering China via Shanghai: Zhejiang has dispatched staff to the Pudong and Hongqiao airports around the clock to transport those who need to be quarantined.



Guangdong


Quarantine


Chinese nationals: 14-day home/designated quarantine required for all Chinese citizens who return to Guangdong from abroad.


Foreign nationals: Non-Chinese who have visited the following countries in the past 2 weeks will be subject to a 14-day quarantine on arrival in Guangdong.

Guangdong has launched a 24-hour English/Chinese hotline 1258088 for expats. During the epidemic, foreign nationals in the province can call to make inquiries or for assistance ay anytime.

Hong Kong


Quarantine


All people who have been to all overseas countries/territories in the past 14 days prior to arrival in Hong Kong, regardless of whether they are Hong Kong residents, are required by law for compulsory quarantine.


All people who have been to Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do in Korea, Iran, and Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto regions in Italy over the 14 days prior to arrival in Hong Kong, as well as Hong Kong residents returning from Hubei Province in the past 14 days are demanded to stay in a quarantine centre for quarantine.


All people entering Hong Kong from Mainland China, regardless of whether they are Hong Kong residents, are demanded to stay at home or other accommodation for a 14-day compulsory quarantine.


Please follow the quarantine procedures as instructed by the border personnel of the Department of Health. Any person who provides false information or does not comply with the quarantine requirements is committing an offence.

Macao


Quarantine


The local government on Wednesday (March 18) night ordered a blanket ban on the entry of foreign non-resident workers into Macau, starting from 00:00 today, with the aim of stemming the further spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Macau.


All non-resident workers are barred from entering the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR), except those who are mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan residents, in order to stem the further spread of the novel coronavirus disease in Macau.



Taiwan


Quarantine


Taiwan announced Wednesday (March 18) that it will ban the entry of all foreign nationals, with some exceptions, and will require a 14-day home quarantine for all arriving travelers.
