按
“东亚法律研究”云端国际讲座系列(由多伦多大学陈利和耶鲁大学张泰苏共同组织)自2020年夏季开始,其第一季(2020-2021)的11个讲座,共邀请了大约三十余名来自多个国家的国际知名学者参与。讲座通过Zoom会议参与并由国内“学术志”网站同步直播,经由“云里阅天下”公众号及其相关的Youtube和微博以及Facebook和Twitter等多媒体平台分享推广,每次讲座吸引了四五百到上千名来自多个大陆和国家地区的学者,在相关国际学术界获得了积极的反响和肯定。我们很高兴在2021-2022学年继续举办讲座系列的第二季。
鉴于日程考虑,目前计划安排了六场讲座。邀请的报告人分别是: 10月29日哈佛大学Lei Yawen教授,11月29日芝加哥大学赵鼎新教授,2022年1月28日剑桥大学Bill Hurst教授,3月25日芝加哥大学 Tom Ginsburg教授,4月29日加州理工学院Maura Dykstra教授以及5月27日的哥伦比亚大学Jungwon Kim教授。评议人也是一批国际知名学者。

主讲人与评议人简介
Ya-Wen Lei is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Harvard University, and is affiliated with the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. She holds a J.S.D. from Yale Law School and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Michigan. After graduating from Michigan in 2013, she was a Junior Fellow at the Society of Fellows at Harvard University between 2013 and 2016, She is the author of The Contentious Public Sphere: Law, Media and Authoritarian Rule in China (Princeton University Press, 2018). Her articles have appeared in the American Journal of Sociology, the American Sociological Review, Law & Society Review, Political Communication, Socius, and Work, Employment and Society. Currently, she is finishing her second book entitled Upgrading the Nation: Promise and Peril of Techno-Developmentalism in China (under contract with Princeton University Press).
Xiaoqian Hu is an Associate Professor at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where she teaches “Property,” “Private Property Rights,” and “Property, Social Justice & the Environment.” Her research examines property law and social change, using both legal analysis and community ethnographies. Her work on China investigates how the Chinese state uses property law to pursue development benefits and suppress development-related problems, and how the state’s actions have shaped class formation and regime legitimacy in contemporary Chinese society. She received her S.J.D. from Harvard Law School and was awarded the Yong K. Kim ’95 Memorial Prize for her work on property struggles in urbanizing China. She also received a Ph.D. in comparative law and law and economics from Turin University (Italy), and a master’s degree in civil jurisprudence and an LL.B. from East China University of Political Science and Law.
Sida Liu is Associate Professor of Sociology and Law at the University of Toronto. He received his LL.B. degree from Peking University Law School and his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago. Professor Liu has conducted extensive empirical research on China’s legal reform and legal profession. His current project examines the influence of colonialism and authoritarianism on the professions in Hong Kong and Taiwan. In addition to his empirical work, he also writes on theories of law, professions, and social spaces. Professor Liu is the author of three books in Chinese and English, most recently, Criminal Defense in China: The Politics of Lawyers at Work (with Terence C. Halliday, Cambridge University Press, 2016). He has also published many articles in leading law and social science journals. Professor Liu is a Faculty Fellow at the American Bar Foundation, as well as an affiliated scholar of the U.S.-Asia Law Institute at New York University and the Center on the Legal Profession at Harvard Law School. In 2016-2017, he was a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
