Lifelong learners
By Nick Yates and Zhibang Liu, ISB Communications
The International School of Beijing (ISB) is committed to providing training for its staff so they can serve students even better. Faculty and support staff recently enjoyed two days with professional growth opportunities plus wellness and community-building activities on campus.
How to make great school professionals even greater? ISB’s answer is to provide ongoing training for them. ISB is a non-profit organization and around three-quarters of enrolment revenue is reinvested on personnel, including funding professional development. While ISB recruits highly qualified, experienced, and passionate teachers, it is also almost unmatched in Asia in terms of the resources it puts into training and development for its world-class faculty and staff.
ISB’s programs are carefully designed to be based on best practice in pedagogy, and the school empowers its staff to consider new approaches and adapt their teaching so that it is most effective. Here’s a video showing how ISB’s professional development programs are a key factor in the challenging and joyful learning that faculty and staff are providing for students.
The challenging and joyful learning that staff professional development helps ensure is one of three main Strategic Focus Areas for ISB. This video-news article is part of a series looking at aspects of ISB that are examples of the three Focus Areas. To read more articles about our SFAs, click below.
